Doctors!

I know a child. She is 13 years of age,completely disabled, mentally
and physically, since birth. She can not stand or sit or speak. Her
growth is fully retarded. As she is alive, she eats, drinks, urines
and is taken to wash room. Her parents are worried about her
management when she may start mensurating. They want to know as to
how, through medication or surgery, she can be made not to mensurate.
Can any one among us render advice and earn God's blessings?

response probably porr as we as homeopaths don't use remedies to stop
normal processes of the body
To stop such a process would add insult to injury.
I know it must be a disaster situation. But homeopathy is not where to go
for help.
Short of hysterectomy, which would add more insult to the body and vital
force, I don't know what to say to you.

Dear Dr Saini, dear Mr Rizvi,

as far as the case of the unfortuante child is concerned, I wanted to
give some advice:

Far as the child ism concerned it would be good to have a close look at
barium carbonicum, maybe the rubrics match this case. Barium Carbonicum,
especially in high potency, is a very important homoeopathic remedy for
retarded, mentally handicapped children; but of course only, if the
rubrics cover the case. Anyway, it's worthwhile to have a look at it in
the repertory and the Materia Medica.

As far as the parents are concerned I wonder why they want to suppress
something so natural as menstruation. As we all know nothing good can
come from suppression.

I, personally, do not believe that it is only the trouble of changing
diapers, which the parents shun. Quite often parents of retarded and
mentally handicapped children abhor the idea of their children growing
up and fear their children's sexual development. That a handicapped
person is a human being with sexual feelings and functions is one of
society's most hushed-up taboos.

This goes so far that people with Down syndrom (Trisomie 21) were
sterilized in Gemany not only during the Nazi-Regime, but as late as in
the seventies. I don't know what is done in other countries?

Thus, I would suggest to treat the parents homoeopathically so that they
can overcome their inflictions and inhibitions and can develop a healthy
and natural attitude towards the idea that their girl becomes a woman
and menstruates. I would do that in any case because the denail of
acceptance hinders the girl to grow up and develop.

By the way, many retarded children do not fully grow up.
Many do not menstruate for a variety of reasons:
The main reason, however is that they are hosptialized; as you hopefully
know women in prisonlike situations do not menstruate. (Neither do nuns
in nuneries, because of their spriritual devotion and their seclusion.)
Another important reason for not menstruating might be the genetic make
up, which can be tested.
A further reason is the general psychological and physiological
retardation, some are just content to be a child forever.

In my humble opinion to menstruate would be a good sign, maybe some step
to some further development.
