On the Glycemic Index Stevia is '0' ie it does not cause an increase
in blood sugar.

I help a lot of people reverse their T2 diabetes (mined included 
) and here in the UK as stevia is not available, I allow them to have Agave Nectar Syrup. It is about 25% sweeter than sugar but has a much lower glycemic Index - around 40.
All I can say from what I have seen with my patients, it works well. The do end up reducing and some even coming off ALL their medications
Of course they make other dietary changes too, mainly healthy eating.
They also take certain homeopathic remedie.
Together with the healthy eating, helps acheive the reversal.

Agave syrup is the WORST, raises blood sugar signficantly. It is refined like high fructose corn syrup and being marketed as healthy.
