Fever question

Is it in any way unusual or noteworthy if someone is apparently very sick
(e.g. completely prostrated, throat *extremely* sore) but has no fever at
all? Or is it just "one of those things"... (I assume it's a sign that the
immune system isn't working like it ought to, but I'm wondering whether it's
something to rep in an acute case?)

Hi Shannon,

The 3 classic "fever" stages are Chill then Heat then Sweat.
Of course there's everything in between... if you look at the Fever rubrics
in the BB Repertory.

A person may experience Fever without Heat, Heat without Sweat, Chill and
Heat at the same time...

One thing to do is keep an eye on temperature and pulse rates to see what's
going on.

Repping for a case with few or no modalities is not possible with
either Boger's or Synthesis. A concordant like Knerr's will be the
most useful.

Knerr's- Throat pg 385- throat sore- can hardly open mouth from pain
in joints and muscles ( by prostration I meant excessive pain)

pg 379- throat, inflammation: chronic with general debility: 3Jugl
: chronic with great disposition to
lach
You will do better if you have the sensations and modalities. Fever
without may be peculiar, but we cannot rep on one that is absent !

Phatak- pg 469- weakness,prostration, acute diseases in : aeth,ail,
ant t,ap,ars,gel,merc-cy,mur ac,strop,2 tarent- c,ver a
pg 470 do- periodical: 2 arg n

Thanks Nanga,

Can you suggest how I would use the information -- e.g., would this be an
example of "lack of reaction", or some other rubric?

The day after I wrote this, she did finally throw a fever (moderate) and has
now recovered (flu, we are told). Would you still consider this significant
-- that the fever seemed unusually slow in coming? She is definitely a case
of "chronic disease", and partly cancer miasm too, so your observation
suits. Any other way to use the information, in your understanding?

She did have some modalities, I just wasn't up to posting them (was sick
myself, but we are all better now!); I just wondered about this particularly
observation.

But I'm happy to have the info about Knerr's, as I haven't gotten any
familiarity at all with that yet. I will have a look!
