It was nice to see so many enthusiastic responses to
my mail. Thanks to everyone.
I would definitely have a look at the Rx suggsted by
everyone. He doesn't look like an Arsenic as he is not
chilly and his room is a total mess. His clothes and
books lie scattered all over the place. Neither is
cleanliness an issue with him. Phosphorous i ruled out
as he does not have interest in anyone else's matters
except his own. He doesn't read newspapers, doesn't
watch TV and has no interest whatsoever in the things
going around in the world at large. Phosphporous, i
suppose likes to be connected to the world around. The
suppression of Malaria thing suggested by Andy, i
would definitely find out from him. Regarding
prescribing Nat. Nur (introvert Rx to a total
extrovert), i was guided by two things primarily.
Strong lingering pain from rejection by a father and a
beloved, plus excessive desire for raw uncooked salt.
I have seen him take salt in pinches and consuming it
even as we waited for the food to be served in
restaurants. The Rx worked(Joy's question) in the
sense that he overcame the feeling of pain at the loss
of his girlfriend and stopped talking about his father
being the person responsible for all his emotional and
mental troubles. Earlier he used to say that 'all his
life had been a reaction to his father's ill
treatment.' The dependence that he had on his
counsellor friend was something amazing. He used to
say that he loves him more than anyone else. More than
even his family members and his ex-girl friend. This
friend of his is a very brilliant, philosophical and
fun loving sort of person who is very highly regarded
in our campus. After a couple of months of Nat. Mur.
his turning upon this mental/emotional prop is equally
surprising. I am still trying to figure it out.
My sense is that Nat. Mur. having taken away all the
feeling of pain from his mind has enabled his ego
which was feeling shackled by these issues to break
free and come out in the open. That weeping, fragile
person has changed into an aggressive, more confident
person willing to try and achieve his lofty ambition.
I have chosen Palladium because of his excessive over
estimation of his own self. Here we are not talking of
someone who wants to be the best in his class or wants
to be successful by normal standards. I think it is
time to open a few more layers of this fascinating
case. Here is someone who has from very early
childhood aspired to become one of the greatest
personalities in the world. He constantly keeps
talking of Swami Vivekananda (in fact is obsessed with
him). He fancies himself as someone in that league
talent wise. Is craving to be recognised by the world
as an amazing philosophical mind. He keeps finding
faults with Kant, Wittgenstein,Russell etc. He is
convinced he is better than others. Keeps pulling
everyone down.Morbid fault finding is another of his
attributes. Poses as someone willing to sacrifice his
life for the social cause. Has unusual sexual energy
(masturbates a lot by his own confession). All this
points almost unmistakably towards Platina as the
likely Rx. But Platina would never be servile to
anyone. Platina is not so weak as to crave company all
the time. Our friend here cannot go anywhere without
someone to accompany him, even as a passive companion.
Palladium is a Rx which comes very close to Platina
except for the "desires company, excessively" and
"seeks others' approbation" part. In fact this
"seeking company, excessively" is something which our
friend himself wants to be rid off as it is a major
problem with him (Joy, your question).
I would look at Verat., Bell., etc. I would definitely
keep you informed about this case.

self esteem, egotistical, delusions of exaltation, theorising,
philosophical, high sexual energies, desires to bite objects, need for
company, craving for salt, has a messy room and no consideration for this -
and yet these components still resonate with a number of remedies such as
Hydrogen, Lycopodium, Lachesis, Calc carb, Hyoscyamus, Carcinosin, Sulphur.
My own leanings would be towards Lac Caninum and possibly Sulph.
Perhaps you need to weave in and out with this case more and look for
confirming physical sx - there sure has to be some. For example, does he
still crave the salt, what is his sleep like, what does he look like, what
acutes does he develop or had in the past.
The problem with Palladium is that although it has desire for the good
opinion from others as a huge keynote I can only ever think of this remedy
as being for females because of the affinity towards the ovaries and uterus
both of which are also characteristic of this remedy. I know that this
shouldn't rule out prescribing for men but...

Thanks for the compliment. I definitely have had a
look at Lachesis, Carcinosin and Lac Caninum as
possible remedies for our friend. I would keep them in
mind along with Verat. suggested by Venkat and also
Anacardium. Interestingly, one of his sisters used to
have attacks of depression. Problems at the work place
was the trigger to those attacks. I cured her with
Anacardium. But i ruled out Anacardium here in his
case because the 'two contradicting wills' is somehow
missing here. However, this person has a warm body and
doesn't sweat much even here in Kolkatta where the
humidity can touch 90% plus. So i have my doubts about
Verat.Lachesis and Carcinosin definitely seem to fit
the case to a large extent. He has the 'deceitfulness'
and 'intense jealousy' of Lachesis as well as the
'talent', 'aggression' and craving for eggs, salt etc.
of Carcinosin.In fact i had first thought of giving
Carcinosin after Nat. Mur. But Carcinosins normally
are very independent even physically. This person
tends to cling to his companions even physically.
While talking or sitting in a cab, he sometimes comes
so close as to make one uncomfortable. At times he
sits on a cab with his body flopped against that of
his companion. Still Carcinosin is a possibility. I
would like to hear your and the group's advice.

women, but in this case with no offence meant to the

And sulphur 'lean' all the time, they cannot stand up straight which is
connected to the theme of irresolution which is big in sulphur and likewise
connected to the theme of being haughty and reaching for the skies.
