HYSTERECTOMY (off topic)

Post by Joy Lucas »

There was quite a step forward in emancipation (and ten back) because
british royalty is and was totally out of touch with the public (you can
include thatcher in that aspect as well). Some of the top women in british
medical society today are pretty much like their male counterparts
unfortunately.

Just a linguistical remark and a historical question............

"victorian concept......" when QUEEN Victoria was reigning over the British
Empire........how do historians concile having a Queen as the most powerful
head of state at that time with all that happened to women?
Intriging.............

what i would add, is this:

when historically disempowered people begin to have a position of power, it doesnt guarantee that the
thinking will change. in this case, you note a woman who was trained/socialized into a form of
thinking and behavior that she was under pressure, internally and externally, to continue to support.
we see this in our practices all the time as well. conditions change for an individual who may have
suffered oppression but they cant cease their dysfunctional behavior even when they are conscious of
the fact that it does them no good. add a large political arena that is historically anti-woman, for example,
and it is no surprise that nothing much changes.
