vitiligo

Post by J.VENKATASUBRAMANIAN »

Dear Group,

I saw my friend respond very fast to an ayurvedic oil. I requested more info on aayurvedaonline,
a yahoo group, and got the info that babchi leaves are the principal remedy. This is the text of reply recd
from Dr Sushil:
The oil most commonly used for the treatment of Vitiligo is Bakuchi or Bavachi taila. Bakuchi is a
single ingredient. This oil is applied on the affected parts and the patient is made to sit in the sunlight
for about 20 minutes. This should be done shortly after sunrise. After a few days, the affected area
will form blisters or bullae. These bullae are filled with a clear fluid. These bullae should be burst witha
sterile needle and the wound should be treated like any other wound. This is what is mentioned in the texts.
But the best results are achieved only if the vitiligo is less than 1 year duration. There are many
other anointments described. Cows urine is also one of the ingredients in these preparations.

another valuable book " leucoderma" by Dr S R Wadia, also says that babchi is effective.
Babchi- psoralea corylifolia linn- an erect branch tree, 4 ft height, stems and branches
grooved and with hair, leaves 1 to 2 inches broad, covered with numerous black dots on
both surfaces, 10 to 30 flowered racemes, coralia yellow or bluish purple, pods very small without hair
pitted black beaked.

Has this been proved already ? Or can it be proved so that the other properties can
also be brought out ?
Regards

I use Babchi myself for Vitiligo or Leucorderma, as stated previously.
Its nice to see some verification from others on the group :)

Babchi is commonly known, I believe, as Psorallia Corr. Does someone
else have further info on this?

Hello all

I would appreciate your input for rubrics or suggested remedies to look at
I have my own list but cannot narrow them down to one remedy

- have a new patient with vitiligo

has increased very quickly to huge white patches on the back after years of major anxiety which is recently resolved

patient also has eyes which she describes as 'tender with sharp pain like someone pushing something sharp thru my eyes, aching in the eyeball and throbbing in both eyes

has lost 2 close family members in death and dreams of death of others

aversion meat and nuts and milk

gets sad sometimes but does not cry

bad menstrual pain

enjoys sport or walking fresh air

likes company
thanks in advance
Beverly

thankyou Soroush, the information is interesting and I will save it to look at again

This patient has had years of ongoing stress and quite a lot of steroid treatment, also mother has a thyroid problem. She does not have any of the mental aspects listed below.
Seems quite at one in general with life and the problems she has had although the dreams indicate a fear of similar events as the past taking place..
Although on repping it comes up Calc as most likely, and ars alb is in there- I feel she is more akin to phos but this isn't coming up very high in repping.
Patient is very thin build, dark hair, very tanned from sunbathing over the years.

Am appreciative of other suggestions

Beverly

Hi Beverly,
To my mind there's not enough information about "the patient" to make
rubric-picking possible or meaningful... Do you have more about who
she is, her sensitivities, susceptibilities (physical and emotional),
inner state/dynamic? Some things I would want to ask, below. I know
I'm asking for more detail than is probably feasible to give in this
way, but without *some* of that kind of detail I don't think it's
possible to know what actually needs treating in the case (the vitiligo
will be a result of deeper causes--but what are they...), or "who" the
patient is...

If she had none of these concrete problems, how would you describe her,
and what would she and her life be like? I would think you need a deep
and well-suited remedy to shift a condition such as vitiligo, and
Soroush's lovely summary seems to me to support that idea... For e.g.:
What was it about, and how did it resolve? (Anxiety over what, and for
her own well-being or someone else's? How did she feel it, how did it
affect her, and how did she express it? How has the situation
resolved, and how has she felt and expressed that relief? Was the
anxiety, and the situation that set it off, something unique in her
life, or is it part of an overarching pattern for her?)

Nice description of the sensations! Can she give any modalities--any
time(s) that it is more likely to occur, and anything that makes it
better, worse or more likely?
at that time or before?
How did she react to those deaths--was the feeling grief, or fear, or
anger, or something else? Any more to say about the dreams--perhaps
especially what is the *feeling* in the dreams--grief, fear, revulsion,
anger, ???

All her life, or since when?

How does she feel it? What begins the bouts of sadness, and what
thoughts accompany the feeling? How long does it last, what makes it
better / worse? Why doesn't she cry (thoughts at that time?), and what
does she do instead?

Any details--sensation, location, modalities? How bad is it, and what
does she do during it?

How strong is this, and is she okay without company too?
At least, this is the approach that I would *think* would be needed for
the condition, but I look forward to others' thoughts!
Best wishes,
Shannon

sounds like a Pulsatilla to me-
since there has been death and loss - the fear of death and dreams are
not of too much importance...

aversion to milk and meat
etc. point to Puls
since the vitiligo came on quickly - we can even think of - complaints
come suddenly, go gradually ( Boericke) - Puls, Sul.ac

Grief related, ( psychic causes of disease), leucoderma point to Nat.m
as well

Ign?

sharp pain in eyes - like something poked in there - Sulph - might be
needed sometime....

Thankyou Hahnemannian2002

thankyou for thaT

at first glance at the patient before repping anything or knowing about the vitiligo I thought puls would be a remedy most likely to include or exclude but when I repped everything didn't make sense

I haven't seen that rubric complaints come suddenly, go slowly - how useful

thanks so much

Hi,

The last post reminded me of vitiligo. I was just wondering if many people have treated vitiligo successfully with homeopathy? I am currently treating an 8yr old girl whose vitiligo began after a major car accident (4yrs ago). She has come for social problems at school and is in the very early stages of treatment. I am more just wondering if it can really disappear for good.

Many thanks,

Michelle Keats
