Dear Colleagues

We have had discussions on the use of different repertories.

I would like to discuss the point that the practise of Homoeopathy is like
detective work in solving a crime.

The detective has to obtain his information and clues (symptoms) and details
on his suspect, (DNA, finger print, photograph, etc) and then refer to the
archives of information on suspects to find the potentially guilty criminal.

In homoeopathy, the logged information is in the materia medica books and
provings. The repertories are attempts at providing us with an index of
these symptoms an although great strides have been made with the recent
computerised systems, there are still faults and errors etc creeping in.

So if you do spot an error, or suspect an error please always report them to
the repertory producers so that the following editions are corrected.

We have problems with spellings also - mainly arising from American
spellings compared to English spellings. I came across one recently with
Stories.

MIND - DELUSIONS - square surrounded by houses a hundred stories (Soroush:
storeys/ FLOORS) high; sees a colossal
MIND - HORRIBLE things, sad stories affect her profoundly

and two spellings for

EXTREMITIES - JERKING - Leg - tendo Achilles, evening
EXTREMITIES - TWITCHING - Leg - tendo Achillis

So as Julian has stated, the repertory is only a guide, the final decision
MUST be made only with reference to the materia medica.
