[H] swallowed a tooth brush bristle
Dear all,
I swallowed a tooth brush bristle last night and I can feel it caught
just down past the root of the tongue. Doesn't hurt, doesn't interfere, I just
feel it. My question: should I take some silicea to get it out? Or should I
just let it be? Thanks for opinions.
Best,
Margaret in Boston

Take Silicea 1M once.
Wait and see what happens for 3 hours. If nothing repeat.

Re: [H] swallowed a tooth brush bristle
I would suggest that no one, repeat NO ONE ever take Silica 1M routinely or
without knowing for sure what they are doing. Silica moves things out of the
body and will move the offending agent out very forcefully when given in a
1M. I know of 2 people who required root canals immediately after taking
Silica 1M, as the remedy apparently spurred the body to attempt to
eliminate/eject less than perfect teeth and caused great problems where
there were none before or, at the very least, where the body had learned to
live with those problems. Silica should be used with care. A lower potency
would work just as well if not better than a 1M, particularly when there are
no apparent mental/emotional issues to contend with and where the only
complaint seems to be some physical discomfort caused by the presence of a
foreign element in the body. "Take a 1M and call me in the morning" seems to
me to be a bit like allopathic, routinist, one size fits all prescribing. I
would be very hesitant to ever get into that mindset. I would also be very
careful before recommending Silica to anyone to ask about the presence of
other foreign objects, implants, artificial devices, etc., as these things
might be forced out as well.

Re: [H] swallowed a tooth brush bristle
Hi Allen,
While I very much agree that no one should take 1M of silica (or any other
remedy) unless they know what they are about, the idea that it would cause
"imperfect teeth" to try to be ejected seems *completely* implausible to me.
Silica is a commonly used remedy, including in high potencies for
constitutional work, and I have *never* heard anything like this before. To
the contrary, I've heard that if silica is indicated, you give silica; what
needs to be expelled will be expelled, and what needs to be retained will be
retained.

Hi John,
Important because of the principle, or because you've seen similar problems?

Re: [H] swallowed a tooth brush bristle
Both really Shannon.
As chairman of a homoeopathic group (almost defunct), I do get asked about
Silica and foreign objects. Also, I have a friend who may be Silica (I've
never taken the case), she has muscle/joint problems but has undergone
exhaustive dental surgery, including root canal work.
After the response to Allen's mail? - 'I give in'. (just a little
joke)
