Homeopathy and Astrology

Post by ricardo scipio »

I am looking for books and other resources that show the relationship between
homeopathic remedies and astrological signs or astology. I once knew a
homeopath that could discern someone's constitutional remedy from their time and
date of birth. Any suggestions to help me on this quest would be greatly
appreciated.

You might look at Http://www.medicinegarden.com
The site is run by Eileen Nauman who is a medical astrologer who
knows a bit about homeopathy.

While I am certainly interested in astrology, I do not think that
homeopathy and astrology mix in any way I have seen to be of use.
Astrology, to work best, needs to be looked at a very individualized
and deep level. The same for homeopathy.
Anything less becomes relegated to the simplicity of "sun signs".

You can find most interesting information in the following books:
If you can read German, there are some very interesting books. The books by
Wolfgang Döbereiner are unsurpassed: Astrologisch-Homöopathische
Erfahrungsbilder zur Diagnose und Therapie von Erkrankungen Teil I und Teil
II.
'Lehrbuch der Kosmobiology' by Franz Matz contains valuable information
about homeopathy and astrological signatures. The German astrologer Andreas
Bunkahle http://www.bunkahle.com/index.shtml has written a software program
Petosiris http://www.bunkahle.com/Astromedizin/Pe ... _frame.htm that can
point to a possible simillimum based on astrological configurations.
The same is true for another German astrological software program
'Astrovitalis' that relates homoeopathic remedies to astrological pictures.
In English, the appendix of Philip M. Bailey's book 'Homeopathic Psychology'
contains a brief elemental analysis of constitutional types. The book
'Medical astrology' by Eileen Nauman has to be mentioned too.
In French we have the invaluable (but VERY hard to find) books by Dr.
Jacques Michaud and another book 'L'astrologie au service du Praticien
Homéopathe' by Dr. Francis Machinal.

Dear Christopher,

Data gathered from astrological analyses MAY add to
our understanding of the patient's status but do not
forget that it is meaningless to say that a patient
has ONE 'constitutional' remedy to be diagnosed by ANY
method.

Homeopathy is NOT a constitutional treatment. I think
that I have clearly explained my thoughts on this
matter in my article:

http://www.minutus.org/constitution.htm

Kind regards,

To anyone who would dispute the validity of a subject which he has not
studied in depth is an ignoramus and a fossil. Such a person is no better
than the allopathic pseudoscientist and quackbuster who afflict us so
gravely in this ignorant and ridiculous era in which we are currently
trapped. My advice to those who would hope to appear wise by ridiculing
and/or otherwise disparaging astrology is to give it up. To those who know
the Truth, you look just as foolish and ignorant as the James Randi's of
this pathetic world. Get a grip. You are the problem.

Dear Ardavan,
Thank you for your comment and the archived article, which I re-read. There is not much obvious crossover between homeopaths and astrology/medical astrology at this time. "Real" astrology (a profound and fundamental science/art IMO) has been propagandized into a fantasy and oversimplified into meaninglessness for all but those who study it, and thus it has much parallel with homeopathic therapeutics in terms of who discovers it and uses it, and the remainder who tend to disparage it, following the trend of what they are taught to think. In a sense, astrology represents a
curriculum to either live out or overcome, which is similar to our concept of remedy states in a persons "makeup".

There are, however, a few homeopaths I have met who are utilizing medical astrology (among other tools, such as Enneagram) as adjunct information. I know Eileen Naumann in the US is one of them. I would guess that there are quite a few people well-trained in both disciplines who practice professionally in India, Pakistan, and elsewhere where astrological inference is more widely respected. And I see that there is much activity in Germany, which has produced some pioneering astrologers.

For the homeopath, astrology remains adjunct because although precise, the planetary geometry mostly identifies general susceptibility, and not peculiar symptoms or specific events, although perhaps in vedic astrology they come closer to this level of predictive ability by virtue of more experience with the meaning of specific degrees...

Like a remedy, a chart does not account for the person, only a pattern underlying the person; yet the chart does not usually provide the indications we need. It is more useful for determining general weaknesses including those latent,; and timing, and prognosis. Even for the latter, one must be quite well trained. Professional medical astrologers/Astrologers can do a bit more than I have described above, no doubt, but real dilineation of disease types and loci of weakness and their likelihood of eruption takes much experience.

One of the primary assumptions of astrological inference is that the concept of one "constitution" is meaningful. According to astrological reasoning, it is an inherent "programming" imprinted at a particular formative juncture that provides the susceptibility to planetary influence (eg fate) which is a background sketch of thematic and health tendencies of the life. The natal chart is mathematically "progressed" with time via several methods, which seem to pan out in indicating that some gradual change of the "constitution" occurs with time. ( Organon paragraph 78 always
reminds me of the "tyranny" of what we deal with in energetic structures within us, that they are indeed "imprinted" , and the overcoming of which requires great skill and diligence over time while maintaining close observation. ):
In the 78th aphorism of the Organon, regarding chronic miasms , he writes, "The true natural chronic diseases are those that arise from a chronic miasm, which when left to themselves, and unchecked by the employment of those remedies that are specific for them, always go on increasing and growing worse, notwithstanding the best mental and corporeal regimen, and torment the patient to the end of its life with ever aggravated sufferings. These, excepting those produced by medical malpractice, are the most numerous and greatest scourges of the human race; for the most robust
constitution, the best regulated mode of living and the most vigorous energy of the vital force are insufficient for their eradication."

Of course because inherent tendencies are insidious does not always mean that they are fixed in pattern, but it does in fact tend to be the case that life "curricula" follow distinctive patterns, and these correlate with interpretation of astronomical factors which imply "constitution" is involved.

In light of this and your comments about homeopathy's relation to "constitution", here are a couple of questions to you (or any other serious commentator) , if you find it interesting to speculate. Note that I find that the notion of stable homeopathic constitution is difficult to study because the rx at any given time, even if it acts positively, is still an approximation. Some cases do well on a certain rx for many years, others nothing seems stable, but we are drawing only on what remedies are available to use and our ability to perceive them for application. So it is
difficult to ascertain whether a remedy which better matched a constitution would be a longer term treatment which could be more beneficial.

Questions
**If it was possible to create a remedy that exactly paralleled the natal astrological chart and progressed relocated charts for later in life, could this have potential to be a "true constitutional remedy"? Would this remedy perhaps addresss the largest possible chronic totality of that person, a totality which we may or may not be able to always facsimilize using a proved or unproved potentized substance, or if we do resonate, require another remedy later because the entire totality was not "met"?
**Would the astro chart remedy be likely to "act", ie would it be specific enough to address the presenting complaint by "meeting" the aggregate pattern?
**Would we need to use the "progressed chart rx" of the time of infection, injury, event to address NBWS situations with clear etiologies which have overwhelmed the vital force, or would the natal chart "remedy" address that?

These are of course, hypothetical questions and require empirical testing. But addressing them may help clarify what we mean by "constitution" which is an aggregate bundle of genetic, inherited miasm, fate and nurture, and "free will" which is background for the the client telling their symptoms, and which is described one "language" by birth information, subject to the interpretation of a trained and experienced practitioner. Note that it is interesting that the Rae System of remedy simulation uses cards with radial lines on them, implying that the alphabet of creation can in
one way be represented by a pattern on a 360 degree wheel. An astrological chart thus has some conceptual similarity to this idea of bringing the pattern over into an actual imbibed rx.
I am going to anticipate that you will say that the chart pattern (natal and later appropriate progressed or relocated chart) remedy has the potential to be a general booster, but that more specific remedies would be required in the life and that in those specific situations, the "chart remedy" would not act to help (this is our experience when we give a remedy which matches the patient but not the more specific cluster of symptoms that we call the "disease" or the "remedy on top of the case" (but which the medically diagnosed term for the condition is only a portion). If this
is the case, it follows the reasoning that some have had of what a "constitutional" remedy might be (eg one which addresses more the phenotype and morphology and miasm, and acts as preventative; and which may or may not be the same as remed(ies) needed to treat conditions which erupt at various times.

But I will not put words into your mouth...

Thank you for any thoughtful comment, and thank you for so well maintaining this discussion board and its educational features.

Regards and Blessings,
Andy
