History of Homeopathy - Pakistan
Homeopathy is a recognised system of medicine in Pakistan. This system got approval from the parliament in 1965 under "Unani, Ayur vedic and Homoeopathic " act.
We have almost two hundred homeopathic medical colleges in Pakistan. Out two hundred 165 are registered/recognised from the ministry of health. All these are running in private sector.
The course name is DHMS which is four year of duration. On the basis of DHMS we get license from NCH (National Council for Homeopathy) which runs under the command of Ministry of Heatlh.
Few Colleges are also conducting BHMS Course. NCH also issue registeration certificate to them. Universities issue these degrees.
Homeopathy is very poplular in Pakistan. About 30 percent patients are getting homeopathic treatment.
In each government hospital in Punjab state, we have homeopathic medical officers.
There are almost .1 million homeopathic doctors in Pakistan. Only fifty percent are doing practice. The reason is, we can not earn our lovely hood from this system. Most of homeopaths are taking 20 to 40 Rs per patients.
Our language of coversation and study is URDU which is our national language too. We love it and have no psychological problem of using English language. Use of English Language is a kind of status conscious sympbol here. English is a very good language to learn. But we also belive that German, Chineese, French and Japaneese nations showed progress in all era just not due to languge but due to hard work and doing research in their own language.
We mostly learn english just to share knowledge with our respected english speakers or get knowledge from their books. I have two thousand books in my library these are mostly in Urdu and english language.
There are five big associations in Pakistan. They arrange seminars and workshops for practicing homeopaths. Most of them are business oriented but few like PHS are non-plitical and non-profit organization which was founded by five great homeopaths.

Re: History of Homeopathy - Pakistan
Dr. Shahkeel Sarwar is right in narrating a few facts but absolutely
wrong in stating many.
I am a Pakistani too and hate to wash my dirty linen in open but I
must correct the record. And I do it with great pain in my heart and
great agony in my mind.
There are about 70 - 75 (so called) colleges in Pakistan imparting
homoeopathic-education. With the exception of a very few, most of
these colleges are nothing but an apology for a college. Their
buildings, faculty, other teaching facilities and clinics are the
poorest-possible. These colleges become "examination centers" for
their students and cheating in examinations become the order of the
day. Resultantly, the homoeopaths we produce in Pakistan are mostly
novices. Most of them, when come to practising homoeopathy, miserably
fail.
Let least said be better.

Dear dr Shahkeel sarwar and dr mohsin rizvi
we arranged 14 th international conference for homeopathy in india in
octuber ,approximately 23 doctors from pakistan dr azhar is our country vice
president of asian homeopathic medical league and dr nadeem also came he is
also having medical college in pakistan ,we really appriciate the efforts of
pakistani doctors to promote homeopathy, and the knowlege of homeopaths from
pakistan is realy good
i think beside all lack of basik facilities in educations still the
knowledge of doctors are much better and they are doing the best for
homeopathy.

Re: History of Homeopathy - Pakistan
Dear Syed Mohsin,
Not to worry over the situation you are describing. It is the same all
over the world before someone comes in and says, clean up your act! When
that happens, then the various so called colleges have to clean up their
act or opt out!
The same in happening here in Malaysia with colleges churning up
graduates who know almost nothing.
The government has since stepped in, with a positve and supportive
attitude towards homeopathy and is looking to register homeopaths, and
wants standards of teaching set as well as registration of the
curriculum and syllabus with the Malaysian Acreditation Board. When this
comes into the picture, to be a registered homeopath you would have to
belong to a legitimate association and would have to be taught at a
legitimate college. There will be a cut off point when old timers will
be allowed to register with their existing qualifications and then
within a certain grace period, no more unrecognised qualifications.
What is even better news in Malaysia is that one of the local
universities will be offereing homeopathy as a postgraduate
complementaary medince Masters course starting next year. This will
provide a base of qualified lectureres and tuturs and researchers who
will then be able to establish a university based homeopathic medical
school.
So Muhsin, just give it a few more years, all the windbags will be blown
away, hopefully

Re: History of Homeopathy - Pakistan
Dear Suriya
I think what is worrying is that the people who want
to fight homoeopathy have perhaps used a very clever
route in trying to destroy it and that is by poor
education.
I am afraid that proper education in homoeopathy must
start with the first lesson in medicine. I may be
prejudiced here, but I feel that by the time someone
has been through an allopathic med school, it is to a
great degree difficult to wipe clean some of the
allopathic teachings and instill homoeopathic
philosophy. So a post grad degree in Homoeopathy
after allopathic med school is of limited worth in my
humble opinion.

Dear Dr. Suriya !
You are absolutely right. The situation can only get better when government intend making improvements. You are lucky that your government have put their feet down. The tragedy is that Government of Pakistan was, is and seemingly will remain a silent spectator. Our government is rather an aid to producing this junk of pseudo homoeopaths and to all the allied evils.

Dr. Naval Kumar !
You have made a mention of (23) twenty three. They may be the best. There may be two hundred and thirty (230) more, may be (2,300) two thousand and thirty in a country of 140 millions. But I was referring to that heard of 60 - 70 thousand who are unfortunately labelled as 'homoeopaths' and of the system which has produced them and of the untrue facts which some one made about Pakistan.
Homoeopathy is at its lowest ebb in Pakistan.
