Repeating 30 C daily / Combos / What is Minutus about?

Post by Soroush Ebrahimi »

Hi Wendy and other colleagues.

I am always grateful to colleagues who try to guide me. I am sure it is
always with the best of intensions.

What annoyed me was the fact that I politely asked Atiq for the
justification and reasoning behind giving 30C daily. Having witnessed the
effects of such a prescription I would need a good a justification of such a
way of prescribing.

I have mentioned this a number of times that so far as I am aware Minutus is
about promoting good practise of Homoeopathy in all of its aspects. So when
I rcvd the dismissive response I rcvd from Atiq rather than him justifying
his way (which may fool someone new to homoeopathy as perhaps a good way)
and then I had to answer it.

[I have kept nearly all Minutus postings - so if you need me to repost the
relevant msgs and postings, please just ask].

If I have hurt his feelings then I am sorry, but he should have responded in
the first instance rather than being dismissive.

I call it indefensible again based on my own obs and also writing of all the
master who caution against repeating remedies and potencies without much
evaluation. The second (and on wards) prescription may at times be even lot
more difficult than the first.

What I do not wish to see is the ways that have been travelled before and
then abandoned to be posted on Minutus as new discovery and 'as the way Atiq
prescribes' and therefore it has validity. If he can respond to the
challenge of the validity of his method, then I should be pleased to hear
them. I have said many times in my posts that I would wish him to expand
and open up - in stead he comes in drops a few bombs and goes away. Today's
lesson was of course the Combo remedies.

If giving combo remedies was such a good thing, why are we wasting our time?
Let us get one of the pharmacies or whoever to make us THE COMBO and put
every remedy known to mankind in that and we just give the white COMBO pill
to everyone and just to please Atiq we would give it daily. Come on. Has
years or learning about homoeopathy and reading the way others have
practised reduced us to this level that we should argue whether it is
correct to give Combos or repeat the 30 C daily until Kingdom come. I said
we do not need to re-invent the wheel, we do not need to go through the same
time forgotten and abandoned ways. A combo in my view is prescribed by
someone who is either not understood the first idea of Homoeopathy (And
thinks that just because it says homoeopathic on the label it must be) and
or is lazy to look for the similar remedy (In an absolute emergency - life /
death situation then everything is permitted but not during the routine
course of prescribing).

But so far as I know Minutus is about Hahnemannian Homoeopathy. If Ardavan
and others think that Minutus is now the forum for non-Hahnemannian
practise, then would someone pls tell me and I will leave and mind my own
business - I have more important jobs to do. But so far as Minutus is to
remain Hahnemannian then if necessary I am well within my rights to ask
people to justify their practise based on the Organon.

It would even have some validity if some one said Hi Guys You know in aph
XYZ Hn says this - I have found that if you do it this way it work better.
Then we have a chance to open mindedly investigate and come back with a
properly formulated response.

I do not think that Hn was the only person who could develop homoeopathy -
but what I ask - for the sake of the patients and ourselves as homoeopaths -
please let us not go along the routes that the masters have tried already
and abandoned? Do you think it is the first time that someone has come
about and has proposed a 30c potency daily and sadly Atiq will not be the
last - but we should be aware.

By all means experiment - but as a good scientist one should design the
experiment well and have the experiment peer reviewed before attempting it.
This will mean that someone will come back and say - but so and so tried
this at such a time and the result was this - Do you need to double check?

You see one of the dangers is that people will go along this or that route
and will jump up and down and sell a few books in the process - but when it
has not gone well they keep quite and come up with a new idea and sell some
more books and conferences!

And just to answer Atiq's question, no I am not the master of this site -
the site belongs to Dr Ardavan Shahrdar and I am indebted to him for
producing such a forum. His decision in all such matters is final as far as
I am concerned.

With love and concern for good homoeopathy in my heart
Soroush

Hi Soroush

To understand my point, try reading your own post again as if you were
reading a post written by someone coming from a different perspective --
let's say someone defending vaccination (substitute Jenner for Hahnemann).
My point about imposing your perspective might become a little clearer then.
It's not so much what you say as how you say it. And you carry on in exactly
the same vein ...!

Comments like ...
... come across to me as rather narrow-minded and arrogant. In the couple of
hundred years that homeopathy has been around, people have evolved all kinds
of methods of practicing it and handed on the benefit of their experience to
others. If what they did didn't work, then it would hardly be worth
pursuing, let alone teaching to others, now would it? And if it didn't work
for others, they'd pretty soon give up on it too. And if they didn't, their
patients would. The method just wouldn't survive. Surely we need to judge
people's methods on their own merits, not on whether the methodology used
fits our particular model of how it works or not?

Why do you regard Atiq's response as not giving a "proper" reason? If you
start making judgements about what is and isn't admissable as a response,
you are no longer an unprejudiced observer. Why do you judge his method as
indefensible? We follow Hahnemann's methods because they've been tried and
found to work, and those that follow the methods of people who've taken
Hahnemann's work in new directions do so because they've been tried and
found to work. There is no difference there. All have their successes and
all have their failures. ALL groups can rationalise the failures of the
other groups according to the perceived superiority of their own
understandings and methods. It proves nothing, except the extent to which we
can become emotionally attached to one particular way of seeing things.
I know Hahnemann was an exceedingly talented individual, but isn't this
going a bit too far?! You appear to be saying that he's the only person
capable of taking homeopathy further! Well, we've had 200 years of other
talented individuals taking homeopathy further and we DO have other methods
of applying homeopathy and effecting cures! They're all around you. People
like Atiq are using them.

I'd agree with you wholeheartedly there Soroush. Except for one thing ...
your last sentence. There is no one single "correct way". And neither is it
all in the method. As far as I can see every practitioner needs to evolve a
way of practicing that is a perfect marriage of their own talents as an
individual and the methods available to them. It's all about resonance --
not just between patient and remedy, but between practitioner, method,
patient and remedy. When all are in tune then we appear to have good healing
potential. (And I can see why you resonate so well with Hahnemann's methods
because that's the way he felt about them too!)

But that rather gets away from the point of my rant, which was provoked by
what appeared to be the implicit assumption on your part that Atiq's methods
were somehow improper and indefensible and that he should practice according
to Hahnemann's methods, which just happens to be your way of doing it.

At the end of the day "I do it and it works", possibly preceded by "I
learned from someone who did it and it worked", is all any of us have got
... in any form of healing anyhow anywhere. We none of us know how healing
really works, no matter how many nice theories we might have about it, but a
little humility and a little respect go a long way towards helping us find
out.

Wendy
