Case taking

Post by Soroush Ebrahimi »

Dear Joy

I ask this question if I suspect not the whole story is being told to me.

If I am correct, then lots other symptoms are immediately touched up on.

An unprejudiced observer should be like a photographer

If there is smoke in the way of him taking a good picture, then if he can,
he should remove the smoke!

A fascinating question, but heavily invasive and somewhat condescending, and
I thought you said you were keen to take the stance of an unprejudiced
observer. Doesn't sound like it to me.

This question is not new, it has been banded around for a long time and I
cannot remember who instigated it. I, personally, would never dream of
asking a question such as this because it is like saying "you have lied now
tell me the truth" - it is also like saying you know more than they do which
is condescending, it gives you power above them. So, in that sense it is
highly prejudiced because you have made a judgement about them. There are
much more genteel ways of probing into a case than using this question.
