Nat Mur and elephants

For british television viewers there is a repeat of a programme about
elephants in Kenya (Sunday 19th). These herds of elephants are compelled to
walk 150 miles to visit the volcanic caves of Mount Elgon. It is the only
subterranean place on earth that elephants visit. In total darkness they
graciously stumble along until they get to what it is they are searching for
- walls of salt - which they lick and chew at until satiated.

Elephants grieve long and hard, they find it hard to shake off the past
because, as we say, elephants never forget.

I wonder what other aspects of Nat mur these elephants might be proving?

Interesting post, Joy. I know of a man who saved the life of a female elephant who was slowly declining (severe skin problems, not eating, not responsive to other elephants or her handler). In all respects, she seemed getting ready to die, and the zoo was about to put her down. Turned out she'd been separated from her calf, which was sold to another zoo. Nat-m. revived her interest in life and restored her health.

And there are still people out there who claim animals have no feelings!
