Dear Colleagues
I thought this question was properly and correctly answered a few days ago.
Fertility is a state of health, not a disease! However Suppressed fertility
is a disease - as is any kind of suppression.
To the colleague that suggested Nat-m 200, I would say, ask yourself a few
questions:
1- How frequently would you repeat the dose?
Daily? Weekly? Monthly?
2- If they are not 'Nat-m' and you keep giving them Nat-m as per your answer
to question 1, will they not start to prove it?
What do you do then?
3- I would guess that the remedies listed under STERILITY have the potential
of making people sterile during the proving process.
But is that what we want to do to our patients? What do you do with their
other proving symptoms?
And does the suppressed fertility lead their vital force to achieve the
higher purposes of their existence?
Please just do not go there.
[This whole thing reminds me of the poor woman who had been on a daily dose
of Sepia for a year! It is surprising she had not grown tentacles! She was
a Sepia proving in our presence.]
Homoeopathy is safe in safe and well trained hands.
But what an interesting opening -- Why do you not wish to have babies??
Rgds

Re: Contraception / Suppressed Fertility
This might appear to some to be a question worth asking of any patient. I
do hope it won't be asked solely of female patients!
Not surprisingly, it isn't a question which would really elucidate any
"problems"...there are plenty of excellent reasons why a woman would want to
plan her fertility, choose the proper time to bring a child into the world,
or choose not to have children at all.
The issue of contraception and contraceptive use is very personal, and very
complex. In an ideal world, bearing and rearing children would be a
responsibility and a joy shared by many people, not just one person who is
usually left to do this with little support (and, here in North America,
often under duress and increasingly restrictive laws). But we don't live in
an ideal world, and when this choice is taken away from women, women's
health becomes compromised severely.
The ability to "achieve the higher purposes of (one's) existence" often
depends in great part on having full control over one's choices to conceive,
bear, and rear children--the right of full self-determination over one's own
body. At least it does for 53% of the world's population. This is a fact
that must never be overlooked or underestimated in importance in our
practices. After all, its that ability to be self-determining we are trying
to encourage with full health, and with homeopathy--not some societally
imposed bias about what women are supposed or not supposed to do with their
fertility and their sexuality.

Nancy

Dear Nancy
Well said - I very much agree with and support your expose.
Also, I would add that it is of paramount importance to keep in mind that
when we treat a patient we do not impose on them our own set of beliefs or
our own "world view" (difficult as it may be). After all, the simillimum is
for the patient, not the homoeopath!
