OSTEOPOROSIS
Dear All,
A big thank you to all who responded to my request. Your advice is indeed
very
useful. Some of the suggested remedies had been tried before. Effective
today, have given Mum Strontium Met 30 BD and Vermiculite 30 BD. However,
to manage the pain had to put her on VIOXX BD and PANADEINE FORTE OD, which
I intend to withdraw gradually. Shall apprise you of the progress.
With regards,

Re: OSTEOPOROSIS
May I also suggest Calc. phos and Calc Fl Tissue (cells) salts as these may
make an overall improvement in time.

Re: OSTEOPOROSIS
Dear Rochelle,
Can't quite understand your reasoning here: in one message you question
giving two remedies on the grounds that it would be difficult to know which
one is working - then in your very next message you suggest giving two
remedies??
My own personal take on this is that it is unimportant how many remedies are
given. What matters is the improvement in the patent. As Burnett (if I
recall correctly) said, when you climb to the top of a ladder, can you say
which rung got you to the top?
Hahnemann also recommends giving remedies together, or one on top of another
in rapid succession (Chronic Diseases, the book that classical homeopaths
apparently never read!).

Re: OSTEOPOROSIS
Dear George,
When I mentioned Calc Phos and Calc Fluor I was referring to Tissue (cell) salts rather than Homeopathic Rx. To me there is a difference in that the tissue salt remedies are not succussed and are given as organ specifics and Homeopathic remedies are given according to the law of similars and on the totality of the individual.

Re: OSTEOPOROSIS
Dear Rochelle
Tissue salts are in the 6X potency so they most definitely have been
prepared "homoeopathically" and therefore, really should be dispensed in
the same way.
The company that sells tissue salts in Australia takes great pride in
advertising that all their tissue salts are prepared in the Hahnemannian way
by first triturating and then potentising.
I have a case on file of a little girl who was given Calc fluor daily by her
well-meaning mother as a substitute for fluoride over a period of 6 months.
She grew a tumour on her jaw!
best wishes

Re: OSTEOPOROSIS
Dear Rochelle,
Yes, I did understand that you were referring to tissue salts as opposed to
homoeopathic remedies. But the principle is the same: if you give two of
anything you will never be sure which one "worked" or "did the job".
Actually the tissue salts you chose were good choices, except that I would
have added Siliica. I have treated a few people with osteoporosis and got
very good results with those.
Let's say the patient had received the two homoeopathic remedies originally
suggested, and then recieved on top of those the two tissue salts you
suggested.... as the tissue salts are well capable of treating the problem,
you then have a situation where FOUR remedies have been given and nobody
knows which ones did the job. But in practice, that should not be a problem:
the patient goes away happy and that is what concerns us, or should.
Re treating the totality of the individual, tissue salts are in no way
inferior to homoeopathic remedies. If someone is lacking in a particular
mineral, this will be reflected across the board in a multitude of symptoms,
i.e they are not merely organ specific (not that it would be a problem if
they were!). Ergo, if you restore that balance, you are undermining these
many problems and treating the individual. Where homoeopathic remedies are
really able to flex their muscles compared to tissue salts is that they are
capable of far more than simply strengthening the constitution, they are
able to remove the actual disease. This is what Hahnemann was trying to tell
us in his works, and it is very frustrating that almost the entire
homoeopathic community has managed to water this down to the "boosting of
the vital force". That is only a small part of what homoeopathy can do!
Re your colleague who claims that prolonged tissue salt use can cause a
tumour to grow: this is frankly not only nonsense but highly dangerous and,
if I may say, stupid. I have worked in India with several doctors who used
tissue salts long-term and there are no reports of anything like this
happening. Tissue salts have been around a very long time. Theoretically,
there is no credibility or basis for this claim. I myself have been using
tissue salts for years... no tumours yet, I am happy to report.
Regards,
George

Re: OSTEOPOROSIS
Dear George
One's clinical experience is shared among the members of this list for our
common interest and professional benefit.
That we chose to share our clinical experience assumes that we agree that
our clinical experience is valid. If it were not so there would never be any
call for any Homoeopath to publish the results of a single case study in a
peer-review journal.
It is true that tissue salts have been around a long time and are "safe" to
use when prescribed by capable physicians who use them as organ specific
medicines and monitor their use.
However, like any other medicine prolonged use may induce a proving response
and this particular incident I shared was of the inappropriate use of a
tissue salt by a well-meaning mother (brought over the counter).
That her action may well have been "stupid" is not in question. Obviously
the child was in no need of this particular tissue salt and she did indeed
grow a tumour as a result. In this instance there is possibly familial
sensitivity. Her mother suffers from chronic throat problems and her
maternal grandmother died from throat cancer.
best wishes

Re: OSTEOPOROSIS
Hi,
Pierre Schmidt, the great Swiss homeopath, said once (in french) that HIS
best remedy for osteop is: Symphytum. He said (as much as i could understand
french) that it is much preferable than Calc-ph.).
Several prominent French homeopaths give Symphytum 5c as a routine remedy
for this problem. i think that Silica + calc-ph. may add benefit.
