Child who hates being restrained.

Post by Rhonda Bird »

It's been a month of screaming children!! Latest little fellow presented
with recurring chest infections on 14 August. Runny nose (clear),
accompanied with the foul moods. Screaming(new symptom), very clingy,
insists on being held. Disturbed sleep, waking 11pm, 2.30am and 5am. This
child screamed for 35 minutes while I was trying to extract symptoms from
the mum - real blood-curdling stuff, and this child is 2 in November. Mum
couldn't think of anything new that had happened for the screaming to start.
Has gone through biting children at day-care. Goes very red in the face if
others take his toys. Refuses everything. Has been on antibiotics for
chest infection 2 weeks before visit. Last year had lots of conjunctivitis.
Was bottle-fed as mum says breast feeding was unsuccessful. Is easily
frightened of noises. Tends to show obsessive-compulsive regarding tidying
his room. Fully vaccinated, including memingococc. Loves the outdoor, and
when well is very active. Bit of a picky eater, not a huge appetite. Mum
says he loves getting dirty, but hate food on his hands.

Gave Ars 200C 1 dose. Slept 12 hours straight. Screaming subsided until 2
nights later. Stools, which were hard pebbles since antibiotics had
softened. Repeat 200C Ars.

2 days later mum phoned - child had developed some lumps on the back of his
neck. Got mum and child in. Hard lumps in lymph nodes. Sleep is good.
Mum says the lumps have been there about a week, which she didn't tell me on
first visit(and the kid wouldn't let me near him!!) Right-sided lumps. is
very tired. Falling asleep easily - sleeping on back, or draws legs up and
lies on stomach. Waking in the middle of the night screaming. Mucous is
now cloudy. Getting very cold hands, sometimes accompanied by blue lips.
Mum assured me his moods were getting better, but still on the screaming
side. Pretty thirstless. Real sweet tooth. Fine boned, slight build. Has
the appearance of an elf or goblin when he smiles(rarely, as he is usually
screaming!) -( my thoughts, not mums).

Follow-up today by phone: Back screaming through the nite. Hates being put
in the car. Nose has stopped running, still cloudy but thickening up.
Lymph glands have softened and swelling gone down. No longer having blue
lips. Loose motions. When mum left the other day, I walked to the car with
her, and child started screaming as soon as she went to put him into his car
seat. I asked whether he hated travelling in the car, or did he usually
calm down once the car was in motion. She says"he really seems to hate
being restrained" - he can't handle being in his cot, and wants to sleep
with the parents. The child didn't react until the seat-belt was being put
on I noticed.

The last thing I gave him was Phytolacca in an LM for the glands/infection,
which has worked. Chamomilla 200 has not worked. Following on from Hates
being restrained - another way I can interpret this into rubric speak is??
He doesn't mind tightness around his neck(i.e. clothing) or waist. I really
need to help this child, as the mum, myself and now my neighbours when he
comes to see me cannot handle his really bad screams. Am waiting to hear
back as to when child got vaccinated for meningococc. to see if there is a
connection as to when the screaming started. Poor mum is really at the end
of her tether!

Thanks for any thoughts,
Rhonda

Did the screaming start with the anti biotics he was given 2 weeks ago? Am wondering also about Bell. or carc. for him? I feel so sorry for Mum!!

Yeah...
What was he like before the screaming began?
Is this an "acute", or a development of the chronic?
