holding penis in 7 yr old - Update

Post by Rochelle »

Mum has just phoned to say he is 80% improved. She has just noticed him pressing his legs together again now (7.30pm) and she hasn't given him a Cantharis 6 since last night so I told her to given him another now and repeat when she noticed a return of the problem.

Thanks again to all

The latest on this is that Mum phoned me to say that although the problem
did appear to be better it seems to have returned. I have told her to give
him a Cantharis 300 which so far hasn't done a lot. The results of the urine
test are that there is no infection and no white cells present which would
indicate that he was fighting an infection. However there is evidence of
bacteria but the doctor could not say where is had come from. The
irritation to the boy is more at the root of the penis says mum and he sits
pressing it between his legs to get relief. He said that it is when he has
clothes on and it is better in the bath so when Mum get home (she phoned me
from her mother's house)she will let him run around without anything on and
see if that helps.
I found itch root of penis in the rep with Rhus Tox in italics and Lyss. I
would imagine that an eruption would be present for Rhus Tox to be
effective.

Am wondering about Clematis as I have found itching >bathing
Any other ideas out there?

Hi Rochelle,

You said Tub. has been his constitutional, so what about giving him another
dose of that? How was he doing in the weeks before this episode started --
was he showing any signs of either relapsing into his former Tub. picture,
or any signs of a different remedy coming up?

Dear Rochelle, I am afraid I haven't kept up with these posts so I might be
missing something but have you considered PETROSELINUM.

Joy - Just looked it up. Good thinking but the child has no sudden urge to urinate (See Murphy's rep) and anyway I don't have this Rx in my stock!!! Also don't have a ray machine :-) Just looked at what I wrote below - I meant Cantharis 30!! Mum is phoning the Homeopathic helpline in case David N has any ideas. She will phone me later.

Thanks for the rubrics Russell.

Shannon - the Tub was really for respiratory problems. Can't find much in the way of genital stuff.

ORIGINAL fri aug 15
Any ideas where to start on this one. Mum has phoned to her 7 yr old is constantly holding his penis. He says
that it itches and what relieves it is holding it (pressure) . She says he is constantly rocking backward and
forward holding his thighs together to relieve this sensation. He is having erections all the time says Mum. She
has taking him to the GP who has given him a thorough examination and thee appears to be no problem with the
groin, scrotum or penis. In the past he has had a tight foreskin with urinary infections and berberis 30 has
sorted it. but this is not the problem. Mum thinks that the top (by the groin ) may look more bulbous but admits
she is just looking for any clues. No problems with urination although a sample has been sent off for
examination. The start coincided with the end of the school term and she said that he was upset at leaving his
class for the holidays. I have not had him in as yet- this was a phone call. his usual constitutional Rx has
been Tub which he hasn't since June 02. Last Rx (unless mum has dosed him that I don't know of) was Dros. 30
June 2nd 03 for cough and June 25th 03 Euphrasia for hay fever. Mum is not the type who who shout at him for
handling his penis but is anxious when it comes to illnesses.

Elimination

LOCATION add Root or base in the same sentence as penis (56) : Kali-bi., sars., zinc., alab., ammc., ars., asaf., asim., brom., calc-p., camph., canth., chel., clem., con., dig., equis., graph., hydr., hydrog., ign., jug-r., lach., lachn., lact., lith., lith-c., lyss., mang-acet., med., merc., mur-ac., nit-ac., nux-m., nux-v., ol-an., olnd., ozone, pall., petros., phyt., pic-ac., plb., plect., posit., rad-br., raph., rat., rhus-t., sabad., sabal., syph., teucr., thuj., til., urea

PHENOMENON add Urination in the same sentence as involuntary in the same sentence as laughing (27) : Berb., Nux-v., nat-m., puls., sep., abies-c., amp, bell., calc., canth., caps., caust., ferr., ferr-m., ferr-p., ign., kali-c., psor., querc-cyn., sabal., sel., squil., sulph., tarent., vib., xero., zinc.

1. Elimination: ars., bell., calc., camph., canth., caps., con., dig., hydr., lach., Merc., nat-m., nit-ac., petros., puls., rad-br., rhus-t., sep., Sulph., thuj.

We also have
(possibly)
MALE; ERECTIONS, troublesome; continued, priapism (K695, SRIII-388, G594) (89) : agar., am-c., ambr., anthr., apis, arg-n., arn., asc-t., bamb-a., bell., camph., cann-i., cann-s., CANTH., caps., carb-v., carbn-s., caust., cere-b., cinnb., clem., coloc., corn., cub., dig., dios., erech., euph., fl-ac., form., gins., graph., hyos., ign., iod., kali-bi., kali-br., kali-c., kali-chl., kola., lach., lat-m., laur., led., lyss., m-arct., m-p-a., med., merc., mur-ac., mygal., nat-c., nat-hchls., nat-m., nat-p., nit-ac., nux-v., oena., op., opun-v., ped., petros., ph-ac., phos., pic-ac.,

2. Elimination after crossing priapism with above result
Elimination: bell., camph., Canth., caps., dig., lach., Merc., nat-m., nit-ac., petros., puls., rhus-t., sep., thuj.
(possibly)
MALE; ERECTIONS, troublesome; child, in a (K695, SRIII-388, G594) (5) : aloe, lach., merc., ph-ac., tub.
It seems we are missing the more precise SENSATION (s) (maybe difficult to get from 7 yr old but probably needed to differentiate remedies), and could use some MODALITY. The ETIOLOGY seems to be only the holiday from school, but this prob not going to differentiate.

Joy's suggestion of Petros. should be studied carefully. The below mm of Petros of male genitalia and urinary respectively shows that Petros has priapism (could be argued that this is occurring?) and UTI with burning (but is this the sensation?) and an effect on the bulbourethral glands (does he feel pressure there?), which are at the base of the penis ( It has escaping urine also). But also note other remedies in elimination above (which have
Petroselenium
Observed: [7] Priapism, with [[11] without] curvature of penis. Profuse emission toward morning. [11] Urethral disease, esp. gonorrhoea, when inflammation has travelled back and patient complains of pain at root of penis; with sudden irresistible desire to urinate.

Pains: Burning, tingling, from perineum throughout whole urethra [[11] during micturition]. [7] Burning in navicular fossa while urinating. Drawing and sticking in navicular fossa, changing to a cutting biting after urination.
Observed: Sudden urging to urinate. Frequent, voluptuous tickling in fossa navicularis. Gonorrhoea; sudden, irresistible desire to urinate; intense biting, itching, deep in urethra; milky discharge. [2] Dysuria with prostatic enlargement. Urinary difficulties of babies. Very painful urination, causing him to shiver, dance around room in agony. [4] CHILD JUMPS UP AND DOWN WITH PAIN IF DESIRE CAN'T BE GRATIFIED AT ONCE. Must hasten to urinate, or urine will escape. [7] Orifice of urethra agglutinated with mucus. [11] Tingling in urethra, followed by pressure in region of
bulbourethral gland, early morning in bed, better sitting or standing.
=======================
Rubbing in the same sentence as thighs in the same sentence as amel: 3Phos., 3Sulph., 2sul-ac., am-c., anac., ang., berb., bry., cassi-s., com., cupr-ar., dios., hipp., merc-i-f., mosch., nit-ac., pall., stann., tarent., tela
If we cross the above rubric into the elimination #2 above, it yields only nit-ac.

Search for pressing thighs together amel yields only Sul-ac (Allen)

Urinary Organs. - Pain in bladder if the desire to urinate is not immediately satisfied. Pressure upon neck of bladder as if everything would force out, when standing, walking and sitting, obliging him to press thighs together, amel. coition. Frequent micturition of only a few drops. Obliged to rise at night to urinate. Constant desire, always before the last drops cutting in urethra, for seven days, afterwards there is every time a dragging in loins and groins. Frequent desire, with pain behind symphysis and on urinating cutting, the catheter met with an obstruction in region of
neck of bladder, which was found to be a swollen and very sensitive prostate. Burning in urethra after coition. Burning in urethra during micturition, with diminished urine; with increased then diminished urine; with micturition only morning and evening.

There is also
MALE; MASTURBATION; disposition to; children, in (SRIII-413) (26) : ambr., bar-c., bell-p., bufo, calc-p., cann-i., carc., dys-co., fl-ac., hyos., lac-c., lac-cpr., lach., lyss., med., merc., mosch., orig., ph-ac., phos., scirr., stann., staph., stram., tub., zinc.

Of these, orig has a method by rubbing thighs together, (but usually in girls), and has phimosis also. Since this appears to be a combination of masturbation or priapism with idiopathic UTI, would be helpful to get better dilineation of sensation and a modality.

Would you mind repeating what the main sensation is. Is it just itching?

Thanks Andy for all the work you have put in on this one. I repeat there is no urination problem of any description (Another sample has gone off to the lab.) and this is not a masturbation issue despite the fact that Mum says the penis is semi erect. I suppose that if you are pressing it against the thighs it would be, Child describes it as "itching" Mum reckons it is more a tingle and reckons it is at the root end more. Now this child has had in the past problems with a tight prepuce and Mum insists that there is no inflammation and no problem there. As I said he was checked by his GP today who could find nothing wrong. . David N suggested Hirudo because the penis looks like a leech!!! On that information and on checking the Rx I decided with Mum that since the sensation actually went away for 24 hours with the Cantharis 6 but didn't improve on re taking it that she gives him another Cantharis 30 tonight (the second today) and if there is no improvement in the morning to start with the Clematis 6x.

I had a new child with glue ear in today that I couldn't get to grips with but I will leave that one for another day!!! Thank goodness I am away on Sunday for a fortnight .I think I need a break!! Am leaving my typing up of cases to do in Israel as I need to get on with clearing the kitchen cupboards as my kitchen is being structurally altered and I will return to no kitchen for at least another 3 weeks after I return!!! I want all the bashing and noise finished while I am away as I work from home. The new kitchen will be good when it is finished!!
