reading in toilet

Post by J.VENKATASUBRAMANIAN »

Do you have rubric suggestion when the patient has constipation, sits
at the loo for a long time, finding scanty evacuation. To ward off
time , takes books into the toilet. (in the belief that stool may
pass involuntarily). Arg nit has failed.

Did he *say* he was hoping for "involuntary" passage, or is he simply bored
to death? Lots of people read on the toilet; there are actually books
compiled exactly *for* that situation (I grew up with one called "Poems for
the John", and I've seen others similar). To me it would seem more odd if
he sat for a long time and *didn't* read -- what else would one do?
