A problem case
A problem case
""Basically I have eczema in both ears which causes the skin to break and fluid leaks into my ears causing temporary deafness.""
Have sorted this patient's other concerns and this is what we are left with!! Last remedy tried Kali Sulph 200 after possible success with the 30C which was a little difficult to judge as he had been taking doctor's stuff! after getting a fly in his ear! His other problems were IBS. I find that the rep is very lacking when it comes to eczema and itching IN the ear. He is a timid nervous sounding man (unmarried) - too underconfident at 47 to have ever had a relationship who thinks that his staff are frightened of him because he takes on the local council and gets what he wants. Hobby is rock climbing. He has a fear of failing in a situation that he can't solve or cope with. Dad died of TB when he was born and he must have been conceived when he had it. I have not given him Tub but maybe I should? He was in a children's home between age of 7-11 and later threatened that if he was naughty he would be sent back. He sounds as if he was Tub as a child as he says he was violent and used to smash things up. He has a striking shock of thick blond hair. The ear stuff started in '84 when his step father (the one who threatened him as a child) died and he cut down some poison ivy and came out in a rash. It will happen now if he inhales the spore. The first Rx I gave him was Rhus Tox 200. He came out in an acne type rash after the rx which he has had before but nothing much else. I have just remembered that I have discussed this case before and told you that I gave Dys.Co 30 . It was that which made all the difference to the IBS.
Any ideas I can study?
He is one of my problem cases. I currently have about 3 of these but I presume we all have them!!

possibly Lycopodium - certainly covers the ears, IBS and the mixture of
timidity and tyrant like personality

Re: A problem case
Hi Joy,
I gave him Lyco 200 in a split dose in March , about a month before the Dys. Co. 30 All that happened was that the Bowel stuff got worse. At that follow up the ears weren't mentioned as it was the bowel stuff (mucus in stead of stool) which was the major problem.

Re: A problem case
Hi Rochelle,
I would think of Sulphur:
Everything started with the poison ivy:
- Skin, eruptions - rhus-poisoning (and Sulph is antidote to Rhus-t)
- (Ear, discharges, suppressed, eruptions after)
- Ear discharge, excoriating
And Kali-s was perhaps only a close-enoughicum.
Best,
Gaby

Re: A problem case
Dear Rochelle
I'm finding more and more that these problem cases of the gut eventually
respond best to Lac-h.
I suggest you go up the LM scale gradually.
Human milk, which is species specific, is designed (among other things) to
mature and potentiate gut function.
There's all manner of good research in the allopathic literature linking
Crohn's disease and Coeliac disease and IBS to lack of having been
breastfed.
One of the main aetiologies for Lac-h is "insufficient time at the breast".
How much is insufficient? Well that's a moot point as many babies give up
the breast sometimes before the mother is ready to wean. From a purely
physiological perspective humans systems are designed to need breastmilk
until approx 4 years of age. By then most biologic systems have matured and
the brain which is very underdeveloped at birth has completed the major part
of its development.
That we can put resources to providing blood and sperm banks but not human
milk banks on such a scale that all babies can benefit from formula made on
human milk following weaning, says much about our priorities!
Yes; the bottom line is that the need for Lac-h is there in most cases.
In this case the gut S/S and the fear of falling are good clues. His anger
and social isolation are others.
Rhus -t and Lac-h are complementary Rx (Rhus-t desires milk)!
Lac-h is cancer miasm which is associated with TB in the family tree.
It's a sarcode; very safe to give. I suggest you try it.

Re: A problem case
Hi Gaby,
Sulphur does come out as the top remedy in my reps but doesn't it always!!! Maybe you are right and I should consider it. Will look at it carefully- Thanks for the suggestion. Sometimes the obvious needs pointing out.
