Hello group,
I am baffled as to why my 53 year old brother seems, apparantly to be starving himself. He drinks large amounts of decaffinated , sugar free soft drinks and, no food that I am aware of - looks very emaciated................He has a long history of drug and alcohol abuse; but I don't think that's in this picture right now. He's been drinking this diet stuff for years. I've known other people who also drink that stuff in large quantities. Also, he seems driven to get his skin as dark as possible , with natural sunlight or tanning parlors...............Obviously, it's a long-term, emotional / spiritual illness; but I am wondering if any of this sounds like a pattern of Anorexia, for example. Any thoughts? ( I do not have any plans to try and help him. He would refuse anyway )
Thanks,
Cal O.

origin of an illness........
Re: origin of an illness........
Look up aspartame on the web and send him the information. It is horrific and is in all these sugar free soft drinks. This could be the origin of the illness.

Re: origin of an illness........
well, anorexia is the first thing come to mind as i read your post.
the skin tanning is a strange one that is shared by so many caucasions--
who, very often harbor racist feelings towards dark skinned people for that
very reason!
i am also reminded of a case told to me of a young woman who sufferred abuse
by her father. she ate almost nothing but sugar and was emaciated. i think
that was her remedy, or at least one of them. she reportedly did very well,
ceasing the sugar addiction, coming to grips with some emotional needs and
gaining weight and health.
