information given, why you would think of Ignatia in this case.
Asafoetida is one of the MOST sensitive remedies, a sensitivity which
largely evolves out of fear and it is this combination of fear and
sensitivity which makes them so restless.
The main fear is that of death, so the connection with the death of a
relative is an interesting one. You don't say whether there was grief or not
but the death of someone near might have excited a real and deep fear of
their own death as a causative factor in developing CFS.
Other fears are being alone, softening of the brain (so there is a lot of
mental confusion here too), and even more important is a fear of paralysis
which is what CFS is all about - a shutting down and out until nothing moves
- again this is perhaps what is making him so restless, if one keeps moving
they cannot be paralysed!! This restlessness is a capricious one and can
appear to be verging on the hysterical. But the sx picture does also involve
a great deal of indolence, sadness and depression. The person centres
entirely on themselves, again common in CFS, and selfishness is quite a big
keynote in this remedy.
All of this fear and sensitivity is centred in and around the digestive
system, hence you get the "knot" in the stomach and the bowels which creates
a great deal of flatulence that can travel up and down - very stinky (it is
not called asaFOETIDA for nothing
).There is, of course, more to this remedy but everything links entirely to
what Jean wrote.
The dreams which are clairvoyent or prophetic are very often about their own
death which links again to their fear of death. It is also a very sleepy
remedy, again a sx which is common to CFS.
I would stick with this remedy as long as possible as it seems spot on.

No I did not give him Ignatia. I think the way he described need for
breath would fit with Globus hystericus. He was not obese but had a high
colour. The fatigue was a complete loss of energy, all gone, and
??indifference. He would lie down and then become restless. He is very
sensitive to everything. I gave him Asafoetida. I met him this am
returning from my walk. He felt more optimistic but had a rather restless
night. I have a few days to keep an eye on him and then he leaves area.
The complement to remedy is Causticum which may well be needed at some time.
. It was the only thing that fitted from the dream rubric. Fingers
