Re: essential oils
I think it depends which ones are used. I think lavender, geranium, chamomile etc are OK but obviously Tea Tree, Peppermint and Eucalyptus are not. I wonder if there is an aromatherapist out there who could give us a list.

Also be alert for idiosyncratic reactions!
I recall reading posts from someone on a list years ago, that every time she
worked with the lavender growing in her yard, her rx was antidoted!

Re: essential oils
Dear Tanya,
Personally, Everyone in my husband's family (Chiropractors) use both together, and haven't had any trouble. I personally don't chew peppermint gum or eat peppermints after dinner.... because I'm always on some sort of homeopathic, but the other EO's that you referred to; they're a new one on me! I've never heard of any of the other ones as causing a problem.
I personally feel that some people are more sensitive than others. Some can use coffee, and not have a problem, and others cannot.
I'm not sure why, just know that some people are more or less sensitive than others.
Essential oils really do a world of good, and I love using them along with homeopathy. We use them weird places..... not just "aromatherapy", but on specific places on the body. Feet, backs of knees, stomach, back, head, etc.... depending on where we feel they need to go. So, it's not only based on olfactory sences to deliver the chemical essence. It's also through the blood stream. Works as well (or better) than the pharmiceutical "patches" that are transdermal.
Hope this is helpful.

Re: essential oils
From my experience, different people are sensitive to different oils. So as
a general rule, I advise my patients to avoid aromatherapy/essential oils
altogether.

Re: essential oils
I am having great success with inflammation/pain reduction thanks to essential oils. They are worth a look/see.
There are two companies that are multilevel marketing schemes, and they have a lot of presence on the Internet. I know one a little: Young Living. They strive for ultra-perfection, but their prices are from 4 to 41 times higher than NOW, the company that you can buy at most natural food stores. I did not say 4% to 41% higher; I said 4 to 41 TIMES higher. So, like I can get one ounce of clove oil from NOW for perhaps $6, but with Living Young the price might be something like $56; that sort of thing. I don't really think that kind of perfection is necessary. I have been having success with NOW, although I don't seem to be getting much from NOW's lavender. The other company is doTerra. Their prices are also several TIMES more than NOW, but I don't know diddly about them.
But ALL multilevel marketing companies lie and use the fear of imperfection to keep customers. In this way they are very much like cults. But I have to admit, Young Living has exquisitely excellent products, if you can handle the cost. If you have cancer, it is probably worth the cost, compared to the medical route that doesn't even work. Also, you can learn a lot from both companies; they have testimonials, forums, and write-ups about each kind of oil. It doesn't cost anything to learn from them.
I think that essential oils are the future of healing. They are to healing what the E-Cat is to energy production: on the verge of changing the world. They are certainly in the same league as homeopathy and flower remedies; very spiritual. But they are easier to use. The person at home can do them. They probably will not replace homeopathy and flower remedies, but essential oils will supplement them.
If you know anything about essential oils, I want to hear about it. (:->)
Sincerely,
Roger Bird
