Dear list members,

I've got a patient with symptom I've got some problem repertorising. I
wondered if anybody had come across this before.

The patient is a 40 y.o. male. He suffers from anxiety.
One of the main causes of his anxiety are his regular attacks of severe
pain.
The pain starts in the coccyx and extends to the testicles. It is a really
sharp pain, and often so painful that he passes out. It causes general
weakness. The patient has to lie down, with his feet on a chair. His whole
body starts to shake and he starts to cry. This happens to him about 8 x
monthly.

He has been diagnosed with having spasms in his colon, and is booked in for
an operation next month. I was hoping to be able to get some results before
then, and hopefully prevent him having to undergo this operation.

Other symptoms he presents with are lots of fears: appearing in public,
travelling, appointments (lots of worry beforehand), narrow places
(elevators), people unless he knows them fairly well.
He lives with his parents and his twin brother, has never had a
relationship.
He can't go out to eat as he feels people are looking at him.
His stomach gets bloated and tight with anxiety. He eats less when anxious.
Also increased frequency of urination and stool when anxious.
He suffers from insomnia, falls asleep at 3 am after worrying. He wakes at
6.30 am. and has desire to stay in bed.
He is winter (Not very cold here daytime temp. 15 - 20 C)

Could it be Cicuta Jean

You might want to look at Causticum which has spasms in the rectum and the
fact that he stood up to the violence would be a good starting point to
consider this remedy. Also has falling asleep at 3 am, fear of narrow
places, very anxious with the pains, cries during the spasms, lots of eating
disorders (as do all the kaliums).
