Hi Joy,
Thanks for this! (I was just getting ready to ask!)
Have you used Sepia in children much, do you have any personal observations?
(And what about the idea that they can -- I think I remembered that right --
appear phos-like? I hope that's not only the fear of thunderstorms...)

Dear Shannon and Rochelle,
By the way Rochelle I wrote Borland nor Boericke - Douglas Borland wrote
"Children's Types"
The youngest I have ever prescribed Sepia to were precocious, sulky, 13 and
14 year olds who were having problems with their first periods but now
thinking about a couple of other cases, much younger children, where I wish
I had used it so I am glad for the reflection.
Tyler gives a neat little triangular comparison between Sepia, Nat Mur and
Phos.
There is a lot of phosphorus in the cuttle fish ink (sepia) and the salt nat
mur) will also be present. But overall they have distinct symptom pictures.
Sympathetic - yes = Phos; No = Nat mur and Sepia
Hates sympathy - No = Phos; Yes = Nat Mur and Sepia
Wants sympathy - No = Nat Mur and Sepia; Yes = Phos
Better alone - No = Phos; Yes = Nat mur and Sepia
Craves salt - No = Sepia; Yes = Phos and Nat mur
Loathes fat - No = Phos; Yes = Nat Mur and Sepia
Worse cold - No = Nat Mur and Sepia; Yes = Phos
Chilly but > cold - No = Phos and Sepia; Yes = Nat Mur
Fears thunder - No = Nat Mur; Yes = Phos and Sepia
All three have indifference. Headaches are prominent in all three, and so
on. I think one is more likely to think about the connections to Nat Mur
than Phos though.
best wishes, Joy

Re: Sepia children. Was: Thyroxine and breast feeding
From a Thread on the BB at Homeopathy home I have obtained permission to post the following:-
Herscu's cycle fo sepia.
Cycle: Flatness (stasis, indifference, dullness, prolapse) leads to anxiety (fear of poverty, not having enough, being alone) (sepia is mainly a psoric remedy) Lying there alone with fears and they get CONGESTED (hoard things, irritable, swelling, respiratory stuff, skin eruptions) which leads to better movement (strong/fast) or discharge. ( strong desire for people, they feel better from connection, they DO and feel better -- dancing and doing things. When they dance,/walk fast things are moving, congestion is going away, they come alive. It is also a remedy that in the flat part has an aversion to sex but in the DOING part, they have a desire for sex and connection. They have to do so much to feel again that the movement starts to aggravate. Sepia is also a sycotic remedy but too much contact with others aggravates. Motion is just another burden. They close up. They don't want to be touched and they get a flatness of affect and flatness of their bodies and minds.
