Dear 'In search of Homeopathy'
Rubric: GENERALS, Remedies - fail to act, well selected remedies.
Remedies: (from Synthesis)
alum, carb-v, laur, op, psor, sulph, teucr, tub.
Homoeopathy is both an Art and a Science.
Let me offer you an example by the way of an analogy for why a well
indicated remedy may not work. (And before I start, we have to agree that
analogies only help to describe a situation and are not supposed to match
the situation)
If an onion has not been stored properly, we see the normal skin of the
onion on the outside and sometimes there is no indication of what is going
on inside. It looks and feels normal.
So when one takes the case a particular remedy is the well-indicated after
the analysis of the case, and one is not aware of any other problems.
Going back to the onion, once we start to peel it, we find that there are a
few onion leaves that have gone bad. To enable us to use the onion, we have
to peel away these bad leaves and often the rest of the onion is perfectly
OK to be used for cooking.
Going back to our patient, it happens that during the case taking no
indication was received that something else is going on within the patient
that is preventing the remedy to act well or to hold. Under such
circumstances and when one is sure of the fact that the remedy is well
indicated and going to higher potencies has not helped the situation (and
also when we have ascertained that the remedy has not been antidoted
somehow), then one may use the above rubric and decide on one of them.
If I am not mistaken, Kent only recommends the use of Sulphur and most
homoeopaths use this remedy to break open the case as it were.
Giving the Sulphur will probably not 'cure' the case. But when the effects
of sulphur have finished, the case should be checked again and the remedy
should work now and hopefully and eventually lead us to cure.
I hope the above has been useful to you in your search.

Well-indicated and well-not-indicated remedies
When homeopaths take full case history and select a remedy which strictly
fit on patients symptoms then we call it well-indicated remedy. In other
words you can call this remedy "SIMILIMUM" remedy. This similimum has all
the power of the world to cure the patient. This remedy is well-indicated.
If does not work then few homeopaths suggests that give a dose of Sulph,
Thuja or any other remedy which is not "SIMILIMUM" that is
well-not-indicated.
Please offer your comment on:
When a well-indicated will not work then how a well-not-indicated can give
you result according to similia similibus curenter principle.
