Hello

With increased airport security around the world, check-in baggage is
X-rayed and the metal detector and wands are much more sensitive, ie, strong
magnetic fields.

1. Does a strong magnetic field reduce the efficacy of remedies?
2. Does wrapping the kit with aluminium foil actually protect it from
radiation?
3. What is the best way to protect our homoeopathic travel kit?

Hi Ching,

This topic has come up a number of times in the past months, and concensus
seems to be that the remedies aren't damaged by airport security measures
(x-rays etc.). Several folks said they have traveled with the same kit
several times a year for some years, and have noticed no decrease in
potency. No one reported having seen problems from it. (Whew! )

Of course if there are problems with it, how would one know. If a
remedy does not work as expected, it is more likely to think the
wrong remedy was chosen, not that the remedy was affected by
airport security x-ray. If possible, I would try to not have the
remedies go through x-ray. But I realize it is not always possibe.

Hello Ching,

My suggestion is if its going in your luggage put it in a film protector
bag, if you want it with you on the plane, put the kit in your jacket pocket
and carry it on that way.

I can only speak from personal experience and the experience of colleagues I
have discussed this issue with: I have flown back and forth many times to
various countries and taken my homoeopathic kit with me everywhere. There
has never been a problem with the efficacy of the remedies! On my very
first trip I had a conversation with a very accommodating airport official
who was interested why I asked for my remedy kit to be taken "round" the
x-ray detector rather than it being zapped. When I said to her I was
concerned about delicate remedies being destroyed by the x-ray machine, she
smiled gently and said "There is more radiation in the aircraft when you fly
at that altitude, than this x-ray machine will emit!" I don't know whether
she was being totally truthful or not, the fact remains, the remedies work!

And if you think about it, we advise people not to drink coffee, chew mint,
etc., while taking homoeopathic remedies but I have had first-hand
experience of remedies work DURING someone drinking coffee or chewing mint!

True, but many situations are very straightforward. One *would* notice if
one's Arnica stopped working, for instance. And fact is, I have not heard
anyway report that their x-rayed remedies were working any less well.
Anyone who uses their remedies consistently and is familiar with their
expected action, *would* notice the difference, if any significant change
had occurred. E.g. if my Arnica stopped working, I *would* know the
difference!

I recently flew and had my remedies hand inspected. The airport was recommending that you do not leave camera film in your checked luggage due to stronger radiation. sg
