Being a Fake

Post by Robyn Foley »

I am working on a case, and would appreciate some input re rubrics and remedy ideas.

Male, 56 yrs, chronic fatigue for past 2 yrs. Comes to me on a regular basis for various different things over the years, but mainly to talk.
As a child, he always felt that he was being observed by his mother. He felt quite uncomfortable about this, and when talking about this with him, he feels "observed" in quite a few situations still eg., when doing Aikido, if the teacher singles him out to demonstrate an error in method, he immediately feels that is being "observed" in this uncomfortable way, and he feels "not good enough" and potentially on the way to being ridiculed. When this happens, he has becomes physically weak, sweaty, goes blank and feels fearful and then a failure. He mentioned that afterwards, when thinking about the situation he gets really "angry" that he eg., did not handle the situation well.
This also happened recently when he was teaching a disadvantaged youth class literacy and numeracy. Whilst delivering the class, 4 of the youths got up and left the classroom. He immediatley felt that he had not been good enough to keep these boys interested in the class and went through alot of negative

He has mentioned that he feels like he is a fake, and embarrassed. He has dreamed that he was a "fake" as well.

In his personal relationship, he mentioned that "he feels undermined".

He is a lovely man, a trained teacher, acupuncutist, osteopath, psychotherapist, but not practicing. He mentioned that he doesn't know what he should be doing with himself. He doesn't feel fulfilled, even though he enjoyed helping others, he feels he has to now help himself.

In the past, he has had suicidal depression and torrid relationship problems. He suppressed his homosexuality for along time, eventually married and had a son before accepting that he was gay. He has responded well to Lachesis in the past, when he had among other things an incredibly jealous phase.
I feel he is ready to find the depth in his life that has been missing.

The feeling of not being good enough goes back to his father (he told me) and the being constantly observed from his mother.

He knows that he has depressive moments, but does not feel suicidal, just fake. He is creative, loves to paint. He does not stay depressed for too long, but recognizes when the mood is dropping. He moved from England to Australia, and cannot handle overcast weather as it depresses him quite obviously, and has since he was a child. He loves the bright sunny days we have here.

Another thing he said to me was that when things don't seem to be progressing, rather than working through it, he is more likely to drop it and move on to something else, even if it means moving to another country!
Any ideas anyone?

I think that rather than constant move, it is more like "quitting when the going gets tough".
A mask would seem tha case though
Thanks

Dear Robyn,

"not good enough" is a stock Anacardium phrase, so that is one idea (of course there are many rems in that category) but "not good enough" + anger + childhood domination suggests ANAC:

This is a classic "possessed" type (70% of us share the body with another being at some time in life-according to hypnotic studies--dominance or abuse can cause a "split" and leave the door open to picking up folks who did not complete dying process, relatives, etc); split can manifest as :one "nice" personality, one "mean" one; or much milder situation in a mild individual; or even split bodily processes

(example: delusion, double; he is; fever runs not alike on both, and (1) : pyrog..

There is a method in hypnosis called "Clinical Depossession" whereby the "guest" can be released, but of course the "host" split remains. Anac can take care of both the host and guest, although hypnosis is a good adjunct, esp. to assist the "guest" to their next venue, if they do not have a living body on this plane currently)

Quote from Alize Timmerman from Baryta mur/thuj/hyos etc teaching concerning "split":
...split of the true self from the body produces a fragment in consciousness by which schizophrenics experience themselves as perceiver and perceived, both as observer and observed, as me and as other. For example, the inner or real self may feel angry, but the false self acts happy, very friendly, but also feels like it is a fake. This false self forms its own personalities, raked by fears, deep denial and a twisted view on reality. There is no sense of love, and no sense of the person inhabiting his own life. Feeling naked, brittle, or that the patient wants to hide are signs of this false self-predominating.
The "confusion of sexual identity" that occurred (IF that what what it was) may be because of a split, or maybe another angle on the case (alum?).

Hi,
I would consider anh, nat-sil and med.
My rubric suggestions are given below.
Following MM of Anh from Radar is strongly suggestive
though it is not mentioned in Rep rubrics like
"Desire for company to talk about the delusions/illusions "
MIND:
- Often introspective, brooding type of people, not very sociable.
- Feel that they are different. Lack self-confidence when in company.
- Lack of initiative, insecurity, irresolution.
- Feel isolated, forsaken.
- Changeable mood. Irritable. Distrustful, resentful to society.
- EXISTENTIAL ANXIETY. Spiritual seekers.
- Flight from reality. Escape in a world of dreams.
- Mental prostration. Confusion. Dullness.
- MENTAL CONDITIONS: false 'spiritual', 'mystic' states.
- Breaks down the usual effect of time and space.
Time seems prolonged, space disintegrated.
- DEPERSONALIZATION. Dissociation from the environment.
- Weakened will-power with increased self-awareness, insight in the
inner workings of the psyche; increased bodily awareness.
- Clairvoyance. Uncontrolable active and perceptive mind. Exaltation
of fancies.
- Affected greatly by sounds: 'kaleidoscopic hearing'. Out of the body
experience or colourful delusions from noise.
- Involuntary, colourful visions.
- Overtaken by world of delusions. Feels merged with environment.
- Confusion of identity. As if he had two wills, or seperated from his
thoughts.
- Delusion is floating in the air; body is immaterial; being double;
being seperated from the physical world and observes from above.
- Usually no fear arises with the illusions.
Desire for company to talk about the delusions/illusions.
- Schizofrenia.
With best wishes,
V.T.Yekkirala.

MIND - LOOKED AT; to be - cannot bear to be looked at
MIND - UNDERTAKING - many things, persevering in nothing
MIND - PERSISTING in nothing
MIND - HOMOSEXUALITY
MIND - BROODING
MIND - CONFIDENCE - want of self-confidence
MIND - CONFUSION of mind - identity, as to his
MIND - CONFUSION of mind - situations, of
MIND - CONSCIENTIOUS about trifles
MIND - DELUSIONS - faces, sees - mask-like
MIND - DELUSIONS - faces, sees - scheming
MIND - DELUSIONS - identity - errors of personal identity
MIND - DEPERSONALIZATION
MIND - DELUSIONS - unreal - everything seems unreal
MIND - DOUBTFUL
MIND - EXECUTION lost as the result of overpowering visual sensations
MIND - IRONY
MIND - REALITY - flight from reality
MIND - RENUNCIATION - world; of the external
MIND - RESIGNATION
MIND - THINKING - analytical thinking - ability for
MIND - THOUGHTS - persistent - separated - will; thoughts separated from

Dear Robyn, you don't give many physicals in this case but I began looking
at this from the point of view of feeling a failure and always being
tested/watched, with the tendency to want to escape and run away if things
do not go to plan.

A number of remedies come to mind - Aurum (feel a failure even though they
try so hard, needs sunlight to shine - to make the gold sparkle, easily
depressed); Carcinosin (put down, sense of failure, oppressive parents,
sense of not being good enough, very indecisive and irresolute, suppression
of sexuality); Naja (feels a failure, they hang their head down in a sort of
shame, has a lot of sexual issues, great fear and loathing of wet and cloudy
weather); Staphysagria (sweet and nice but gets secretively angry, feels a
failure, feels insulted, wants to escape, delusion everything is unreal,
jealous, many sexual issues); Sulphur (feels a failure, suppressed, never
finishes anything, completely irresolute, jealous, << cloudy weather).

Hope this helps.

Best wishes, Joy
