Nightmares of Sharks!

Dear All,

Has anyone encountered this rubric before? I have a new patient,
16yr old girl NBWS glandular fever, December 2002 (she was
hospitalised and had IV antibiotics!!! for it).

A few things stand out in this case, notably her recurring nightmare
of sharks which makes her wake up with a start: apparently she dreams
the shark comes up from below and chomps her legs off!
Another thing is her uncommonly stiff (but not painful) knuckles
which she constantly "cracks" because it is the only way to keep them
moving. She suffers from growing pains, always worse right side. No
other modalities.

She presents carcinocin, including her sensitivity to parents' wishes
(which she seems to comply with, without too much resistance) and her
low self-esteem. She is also a habitual nail-biter from a young age.

Any thoughts gratefully received!

Certainly has all the possibilities of Carcinosin but I think I would tend
to look at this more generally and rounded, i.e. the sharks are just an
option and it is the tendency to nightmares which is important.

Aconite has nightmares, wakes with a start, nbws glandular fever, bites
nails (over all and general nervousness which she might be suppressing due
to compliance with parents?), and a lot of paralysis of fingers (sensation
of), painless cracking of joints, insensibility of hands and feet. Over all
Aconite is very anxious and nervous, has many forebodings and fears, has
lots of connections to acute conditions but can leave a chronic state. Might
be worth exploring a bit more before you commit to carcinosin. It could be
the antibiotics that have caused this state. You need to compare her health
before the Glandular fever as well as after.

The thought I have is just to look into Medorrhinum. First, they have a
deep connection with the ocean, they have rheumatic/arthritic problems
(stiff joints) and they bite their nails.

This comes from a homeopath, very young in practice, but why not share?
