Bursitis

Post by Laura Peterson »

Hi everyone,
I am trying to avoid a trip to the allopath. Developed bursitis in left
knee, probably due to a yoga class (must be getting too old for this!) I
tried Ruta, Nat-m, Caust , Sil and Arnica with no results yet. it has
been about a week now. It is a fairly painless swelling, except when I
press on it, and not discolored. Not especially warm or cold to the
touch. I have stopped aerobic exercise classes, but not my daily
activities. I do have cracking in alot of my joints on movement and some
pains in other joints/muscles, so this may not be a simple case of
bursitis. Any thougts or hints are welcome.
I did read that bursitis will go away on its own in about two weeks. I
also read that it may be gout, diabetes or arthritis related and if so
perhaps a trip to the allopath for diagnosis might be helpful?
Thanks,
Laura Peterson

Dear Laura,

I see a osteopath (we do a swapsy!) for my exercise induced injuries!! You
never know they may be able to manipulate something and and get rid of the
bursitis.

I have just heard from the woman.(See below for original post)

The Apis has not done anything for the bursitis. Her neck and back pain have returned since she stopped the Nat Phos 6x so I have said she can go back on it now. The Sepia 1M has now begun to improve the stress incontinence again so that was a good move. She also wants to return to taking the Rhus Tox 12 at night as it helps the stiffness in the morning from her spondylitis. I hate being a polyhomeopath preferring to give 1 remedy to sort everything out but in this case I don't seem to be able to.

Someone suggested B6 and B12 for the bursitis so I have suggested that she gets some of this and tries it.

I am still open to suggestions :-)

Thanks

Rochelle
Woman who is a cleaner who has done well with Sepia. In the beginning the large oedematous swelling in the knee she thought went down. Last time I saw her it had spread and was quite wide. I gave her Nat Phos 6x which has improved her neck and back pain so she is not now taking pain killers. I thought this might help the knee because she was complaining of a funny sensation (crepitation?) when she moved it.

However the stress incontinence is back , menses improvement gone backwards so have put her back onto Sepia 1M.

The right knee today looks much more pointed rather than spread out and I could really feel the fluid. It was very hot to touch when compared with her other knee. She says that sometimes it has a discolouration across it that looks like a bruise. I have given her some Apis 6 to try for a few days.

Any ideas for the knee?

Thanks

Rochelle

years ago i had a bursitis attack in my shoulder. the owner of the local health food
store, who was really into promoting health, suggested magnesium in a 2:1 ratio with
calc (the opposite of what i had always taken). i bought some magnesium and increased
the dosage relative to the 1gr calc i always took back then. overnight about 80-90% relief,
a second dose and that was the end of the bursitis.
i am once again taking magnesium, 1600 mg daily for a should inflammation along with
2500-3000 mg dha. i am finally seeing some relief from the accident i had in january.

Thanks for this. I will keep it mind for when I next see her. I don't think there is pain with the knee but stiffness.
