blank posts / virus' work / worry and time expenditure etc.

Post by A.Panthera Johannides »

Dave Hartley wrote on Mon 21st Oct in reply to "again post by H.Balasubramanian", stating that these sorts of things were caused by a bunch of virus species currently spreading and concluded "... so it is a waste of everyone's time and energy to worry over these sorts of blank emails." - Well, I was aware of these creatures' existence and evil-doing, after these multiple warnings on our homoeo-lists. So the possibility it had been their doing did cross my mind. And when you, being surely much more experienced in these techn. matters, say so, it adds weight. But I was not sure. I couldn't know if there are not other "system-diseases" or individual mistakes that cause flaws that may look similar. I also thought that, with anti-virus programmes running, as the librarian assured me they were, they would catch and destroy the whole message before it reached me, not just turn it harmless. And there may be a brand of Indian software which has the habit of playing tricks; in all my few attempts contacting Indian homoeopaths through the window they provide for this purpose on their IN site, that never worked or arrived, but when I wrote to the very same person from my own electr. address, they sent a politely quick reply; so from my little experience I concluded he had got one of those flawed things too, and perhaps nobody had given him feedback on that. And then the virus would have looked a very clever sort indeed. First time to pick up my address together with my favourite topic, okay, but then reading my list post "mysterious mail by...", taking this + "Re" as title for the second attempt with mail of different length ( although I had posted on other topics in the meantime, and never anything personally to the list colleague concerned ) ; that looked to my unexperienced eyes more like a human's action. And when I was only half sure, human colleague with well-intended effort or bug, I regarded the possible cost of troubling list members unnecessarily lower and to be prefered compared with appearing impolitely silent / unresponding to him. Matter of caution and style, to my mind. But I did not intend to ever rise this topic again; either he can remedy the potential flaw and send something with content, or use the list forum if that makes a difference, or gives up. Or it was an "it" and can go to bug-hell anyway. / Only had to clarify my reasons again. Regards, Panthera
