Hello!
I have an aquaintence, a lady who has a rare disorder called
Panniculitis. It seems to mimic Lupus somewhat, but has some of the
symptoms of a bad measles immunization disorder. Apparently, it
responds to Leprosy drugs, although with leprosy, one has no pain, which
is not the case with this problem.
I don't know if Calcarea Fluorica would be of any help or not.. In
Boerke's Materia Medica...
It starts out with:"A powerful tissue remedy for hard, stony glands,
varicose
and enlarged veins, and malnutrition of bones.
Arterio-sclerosis;
threatened apoplexy. Tuberculosis. Used after operations, the tendency
to
adhesions is reduced. "
Under Skin it says: "Marked whiteness of skin. Scar tissue; adhesions
after
operation. Gissures or cracks in the palms of the hands, or HARD SKIN .
It
later says Induration of stony hardness. "
Under Extremities it says: " Ganglia or encrusted tumors at the back of
the
wrist. Gouty enlargements of the joints of the fingers. Exostoses on
fingers..."
Under Respiratory Organs it says: "Hoarseness. Croup. Cough with
expectoration
of tiny lumps of yellow mucus, with tickling sensation and irritation on
down.
Spasmodic cough. Calc. Fluor. removes fibroid deposits anbout the
endocardium
and restores normal endocardial structure."
What do you think about this remedy? Can anyone give some insight on
this?
Has anyone ever had any experience with this problem?
Here is what she writes about herself...
She writes:
There is a gene we have called Alpha-1 Anatripsyn.
When you get a cold, like bronchitis, the white blood cells eats up the
infection.
The most common of this diease attacks the lungs. Rarer is the liver and
even more rare is Panniculitis, which is a
skin form.
With the lung form people get infesction of the lung and the white blood
cells literally eat up the lungs. Most go on a
lung donor list and if they are lucky enough to get a lung, maybe it
will work. Most die, waiting for lungs or their body
is so sick they cannot live. Even worse, they get the lungs and their
body reject it.
Most without this gene will get the lung form. Most are first
diagnosised with Asthma when it is the diease itself.
If I get a bump or bruise, its likely that I will swell. My hand is
often effected. I think maybe because it hits this area
most is because the tissue is weak.
We all have carried our children to the doctor and blew up a rubber
glove. That is how bad my hand swells. I
havehad it in my feet, knees, breast, and arm. Its very dangerous for me
because I have a heart problem. A valve
does not close off all the way and the infection can quickly hit my
heart.
I take a medication that is actually used to treat leprosy. Called
Dapsone. Its the only drug for this. A few back I had a
problem with my body getting immunine to this med. I hope and I pray
this is not happening again. ITs bad medicine,
it eats up the red blood cells. But, the body will compensate.
The more I get sick, the more damage is done. The last time when the
drug stopped working, I suffered through a
time, and was able to go back on it in about 3 months. If this had not
worked plans were being made for me to go to
Birmingham, Al.
When it hit my feet and knees, I could not walk. I think that was the
hardest. If it has to come up, I choose my hand
least I can walk.
Its hard but we get through. For 9 years I was a surgical RN. It has now
became to much a threat for me to work. Any
cold, bump, bruise or stick can cause it to flare.
So, don't work. I think that was the next hardest for me to accept.

I wrote her these questions:
Got some questions.... Is your situation that of the fat under the skin
becoming hard, lumpy, patch,
sores, etc??? I see Alpha 1 and Alpha 2. I see Panniculitis,
Idiopathic Nodular, Mesenteric Panniculitis,
Nodular Migratory Panniculitis (Vilanova Disease), Lupus Erythematosus,
etc... I see that this is a
Deficiency in Alpha-1-antitrypsin, not just a gene.... which trypsin is
a enzyme usually...?
Some link this to the Measles vaccine.....( Measles virus panniculitis
subsequent to vaccine administration,
J. Pediatrics 101(3): 366-373 ...www.whale.to/vaccines/panniculitis.htm
- 1k )

The rarity of cutaneous lesions in relation to the alpha1 AT
deficiency frequency suggests that other triggering agents like trauma
and infections must be
present: these factors could initiate an inflammatory cascade resulting
in tissue damage when
alpha1 AT efficiency is decreased [16-19]. Concerning the treatment,
corticosteroid, colchicine,
dapsone and cyclophosphamide have been described as efficient [16, 17].
Anti-collagenase
properties of doxycycline have been used with success in some cases
[20]. alpha1 AT purified
from plasma is used in perfusion or by aerosol for emphysema but it can
be used in perfusion for
severe cutaneous involvment [21-23]. Finally, several strategies of gene
therapy have been
considered to safely place the normal gene in cells to produce
sufficient quantities of enzyme to
protect the lower respiratory tract. Therapy for liver disease other
than transplantation is more
complex since accumulation of alpha1 AT in the RER is responsible for
hepatocyte lesions [1,11].

Joyce, This implicates the Liver. Do you have problems sleeping at
night? Between 2-5? Just
wondering.
I'm wondering if doing a liver cleanse might help rejuvinate the enzymes
the liver normally produces.
Also, if your skin is hard, I've seen a homeopathic remedy that has
those rubrics in it. The Measles
vaccination though, might have to be worked with first.... I've read of
a girl with really lumpy thighs,
who took the vaccination nosode remedies, and her thighs went back to
normal. She was very happy...

I do not have sores or stuff, sometimes it seems to just swell up for no
reason.
It's also hard cause it does not always infect the fatty tissue. It took
forever to get it diagnosised. Finally, the test was
sent off and it came back.
It takes a certian test at a certian time to catch.
Once the swelling goes down, you can see the lump. It swells so big
though that its unreal and its not so noticable a
lump until that goes down.
I cannot do steroids it makes it worse. I cannot have the biopsies makes
it worse. I almost lost my feet cause they
opperated.
The lumps were removed in a couple of the surgries. They said it was a
pocket of white stuff looking like cream
cheese in its on sac.
Mine is not measle related. I never had those shots.
A dermatologist finally found it. I seen all kinds of docs. I have been
accused of using drugs to having a worm.
Been a mess. All that is done. More tests confirmed the panniculitis.
I've been sorta kinda sick with a low grade fever, and I think that
alone has made me less
able to deal with the pain of my hand.
I had to go on and let my doctor see me, one look at my hand, we know
the
drill. But, he asked how long had I been noticing a color change of my
skin.
About 2 weeks and a low grade fever.
Blood tests and stuff reveals that I am in starting to show signs of
this
hitting my liver. We are thinking at this point that we are going to
have
boughts with this like I have with my skin. Sometimes it will not bother
me
sometimes it will.

If anyone has some ideas on this, I'd appreciate it.

Re: Panniculitis: Alpha-1 Anatripsyn
I sincerely hope that it is not your intention to try to treat someone
suffering from chronic disease based on an allopathic diagnosis via email ?
If you want to help your friend with homeopathy, I'd suggest that you help
her to find an experienced homeopath, who can take the case in person. I
can't think of any of the cases I've taken that seem like they'd have been
easily done via email !
The type and degree of detail is not so easy to elicit, even in person.
Either way,
Please consider what one of our most distinguished homeopathic M.D. forbears
has to offer on the topic:

specified disease by name and not mentioning any symptoms upon which we can
base an intelligent prescription.
The homoeopathic physician has no remedy for the name of a disease"
