A few weeks ago I asked for some info re cataracts in a baby. I have since
found out that the baby has Galactase deficiency and/or galactasemia.
Is there anyone who has treated this condition homoeopathically, taking
into account that removal of lactose as the major treatment method
available?

Re: Galactase deficiency/Galactasemia
"treat this condition homeopathically ?"
I'm certain that many treatments have proceeded successfully, which might
have been "medically diagnosed" under such label.
Suggest starting out by taking full case & not stressing too much over
allopathic diagnosis.
Likely, it would be valuable to study MM indicated under rubrics such as
aggravation by mother's milk, aggravations (whether they be colic, diarrhea,
or ?) by sugar &/or milk
Some remedies to study:
Cina., Nat-c., Sil.
All three of these are in the rubric EYE-cataract
*and* the tiny rubric:
Generals - food & drinks - milk - agg. mother's (4 total incl Jal.)
(Jalapa is a tiny remedy best known for colic & diarrhea)
If this does not provide you with sufficient food for thought...
milk intolerance=strong keynote: Calc, Nat-m, Tub.
However, I would be willing to wager that one of the three first mentioned
will turn out to be a great opening for this case.

Re: Galactase deficiency/Galactasemia
Dave's suggestion to generate your own Dx from your clinical intake is with
significant merit. Questions which come to mind are: is the pt. male or
female; is the pt. anorexic, jaundice, vomiting, manifests poor growth,
edemic, dyspeptic, itching eruption about the ankles, and do the diagnostic
tests performed thus far demonstrate an inappropriaate rbc concentrations of
a galactose phosphate or tissue presence of uridyltransferase in lv and rbc?
There is a clear sense of cellular disturbance, perhaps in addition to those
remedies already mentioned you might look at nat-p in both low and high
potency. It functionally acts to transform into an acid and exchanges for
oxygen with an affinity for nerve tissue. I would add lac-h, lac-v, to your
menu of remedies to consider, and perhaps it may prove of value to
repertorise the mother particularly if she is still breast feeding.

Re: Galactase deficiency/Galactasemia
Thanks Dave and Isali for your input. I had already looked at the things
suggested by you both, however, what I was really after with my request was
whether or not anyone on the list has treated this and if so what were the
results.
So list, is there any experience with this condition out there?

Robyn

Re: Galactase deficiency/Galactasemia
Hi Robyn,
I assure you that "this condition" has undoubtedly been addressed many, many
times over *PRIOR* to anyone's ever hearing of the allopathic diagnosis; and
also undoubtedly, many times since the allopathic diagnosis has been
invented, "this condition" has been treated in blissful abeyance of any
knowledge of said allopathic label.
Suggest more trust in homeopathy, less in allopathic diagnosis..
Far more important to take the full case, and individualize than to worry
about what remedy may've been susccessful in a wholly different case which
merely has the similarity of common allopathic diagnosis... we don't treat
allopathic labels, after all... we treat unique individuals, according to
similarities in their symptom picture with the symptoms developed by
remedies when proven.
You are saying you've already carefully considered
Cina., Nat-c., Sil., Calc, Nat-m, Tub., Jal and find no potential openers
for your case?
This is quite odd, because the common allopathic symptoms will surely be
covered by several of these
I wonder what characterizing symptom(s) your case has which cannot be found
in the remedies suggested ?
This would provide more fruitful ground for case analysis than knowing what
remedy might've been useful in an entirely different case.
Is the mother already under homeopathic treatment?

Re: Galactase deficiency/Galactasemia
Dave what on earth are you talking about here!!!!
I think your response is over the top and i would request that you Back
Off. This is not a battle ground, it is a forum. Read the mails for what
they are, and don't read into them your interpretation as in this case
proves to be incorrect.
I have no understanding of how you can reply to my previous post with a
post such as this.
Nowhere in my post have I asked for a remedy. What I am after is to hear
from anyone who has experience with treating someone with "this condition"
as you keep pointing out. I am interested in outcomes, not in remedy
choice.
"This condition" is rare, and contrary to your input, this condition would
not have been addressed by many people at all.
"The invention of allopathic diagnosis" seems to make you rather angry but
i am grateful for this invention, as I am sure many others are as well in
the homoeopathic community. I use it, for what it is worth to at least give
me a sphere of action for selection of remedies and to provide me with
pathophysiology understanding as well as a communication medium with other
therapists.
I do not feel that i need to explain to you how I have taken this or any
other case. You seem to have ants in your pants with regard to my posts
recently and I really don't know why and i am not really concerned about
it, but i would appreciate it if you could kindly desist in the aggressive
responses to such simple posts.

Robyn

Re: Galactase deficiency/Galactasemia
Hi Robyn,
Milk intolerance is not rare.
Outcomes depend entirely on proficient (& possibly fortuitous) treatment.
Homeopathic process is homeopathic process, disease name notwithstanding.
