help needed

Post by suzannemerritt »

Does ayone have any expeience with Cervical Spondylosis? I have a male
pateint aged 63 years with this problem who is facing surgery which could
leave him paralysed.

He is in constant pain > fingers, hands, feet, toes neck and arms > touching
anything
Pain is like constant pins and needles with a numb feeling (annot feel hot
and cold)
No feeling in cervical spine if touched feels like being poked with sticks
All of back numb No problems from neck upwards no headaches.

2 years ago had an operation to fuse C2 & 3 and cleaned the nerves 3-7 > for
a short period.

Onset 6 years ago began with pins & needles in right thumb > over 2 years Gp
said anxiety after urther investigations diagnosed.

when moving

Depressed having to do nothing can't even read a book too painful to turn
pages

Apettite small _ lack of exercise to make him fell humgry
Has to have pepper on meals
Feels full quick

Big mood swings can ite easily then go quite. Can go into self. Since
illness likes to be alone. Energy levels low feels awful.

Anxious - "how will I end up" he cannot bare the thought of being paralysed
he would rather die however has a fear of dying

Smokes 20+ daily < since illness

Cold quickly heating on at home all the time

was in the Army for 24 years liked travelling and the disipline joined to get
away from father who was very strong on discipline. Got on well with eveyone

No falls or injuries etc

Remedies so far have been Rhus Tox Lm 1 and 2 Aurum 200c x 2 and Conium 200c
NO change on any of these

I would appreciate any comments

Interesting that Carc. came up without taking into consideration the
discipline aspect or the travel.

Gen, food, pepper, desires
Mind, company, aversion to

Hope this is useful

Hello Suzanne, I would like to know more about why this person has developed
this condition - what has caused him to sieze up like this? Has the military
experience got anything to do with it? What in his life is he trying to
numb.

Anyway, I am thinking about Dulcamara and interesting that Clarke describes
the personality as a "combative" disposition. Worth reading up on. Causticum
and Staphysagria have an affinity to cervical conditions but the modalities
don't fit. Any other info??

Best wishes, Joy

Suzanne,

Asa Hershoff's book, Homeopathy for Musculoskeletal Healing, has some interesting things to say about the symbolism of the neck -- e.g., a stiff neck can express resistance to seeing, etc. He also lists two pages of remedies for acute and chronic cervical problems. None seems quite on point given your description of the patient, but they might give you some ideas.

Good luck!

guess you have the normal feelings towards the pregnancy and child birth. YOu do not sound to possess any negative feelings as regard to your letter. However it is common for everywoman to have few panic or anxious feelings about the delivery and the labour pains. But self suggestions or auto suggestions would help more in normal delivery.
I do not recommend any medicine for your case except a regular prescription based vitamins etc.
however the following medicines are suggested as per the homepathy
CINNAMONIUM 200c stops excess bleeding, increases the labour pains, and assures safe delivery.
secale cor 200 c is to be tried only when you have week labour pains and a feeling of loss of firmness in muscles. This is given only if you have no albumin history in urine examination. It also relax the tightness of avarglass.
secale cor 200c, gossypium 200c, cimicifuga 200c, sabina 200c, can be tried when there is excessive labour pains after delivery
But the best medicines are ........
from the bach flower remedies
MIMULUS > is the medicine that exclude the fear from known orgin.
LARCH > is the medicine that promote your confidence level.
CHERRYPLUM > is the medicine for intolerable pains.
you can use the above bach remedies safely and without a supervision even.
goodluck.....have a nice kid......

It sounds like you are in pretty good shape for your delivery. You
shouldn't need anything drastic. If you have a midwife for your
delivery, they should be knowledgeable in any homeopathic medicines
you may need as your symptoms in labor come up. If you have an OB/GYN
in a more hospital-like setting, then chances are they won't use
anything homeopathic or know anything about it. But Arnica in a
higher potency is always good for after the birth, as well as
Phosphorus 200c to help control bleeding afterwards.

In the United States, in the hospital they usually give newborns the
Hep B vaccine as well as do a heel stick for blood tests. These are
OPTIONAL, but they will act as though they are set in stone, so make
it clear whether you want these interventions or not. They also will
give a Vitamin K shot if you do not specify otherwise (if you've had a
healthy pregnancy and plan to breastfeed, the baby should not need
this. There are oral Vitamin K drops you can have given under the
tongue for the first week just in case).

You need to be very clear in what you want done or not done in a
hospital setting for your birth (if you want to walk around or take
different positions during labor, if you want the baby to stay in the
room with you instead of taken to the nursery, etc). Also, if you
have a boy baby and do NOT want him circumcised, you need to let them
know that too as a precaution, since most Americans still have this
done to their infant sons. A birthing center typically has more
sensitivity and options when it comes to the mother's needs than a
hospital, and a homebirth with a midwife gives you the greatest options.

And breastfeeding should be all the baby needs to be healthy, happy,
and loved!

I hope you have a safe delivery and a beautiful, healthy baby!

Blessings,
Cristi Lewis, CHom.
