This remedy mostly affects the urinary system.
It is a valuable remedy in treatment of old people
with urinary retention resulting from enlarged
prostate. The patient experiences severe pain on
attempting to urinate extending down thighs to the

One of its strange peculiar symptoms is that the

Re: FIND THE REMEDY'S NAME (154)
Sorry, I see tha Phatak's MM had already been posted on this remedy.
I offer this from Lippe:
Urinary organs
Micturition difficult, with much pressing and straining only in drops, with
the sensation as if the urine should be emitted in large quantities.
Violent pains in the bladder, and at times in the back; the left testicle is
painfully drawn up; pain in the thighs, shooting down into the toes and soles
of the feet.
Paroxysms of violent pain with the strangury; he cries on loud, and can only
emit urine when he goes on his knees pressing his head firmly against the
floor; remaining in this position for ten to twenty minutes, perspiration
breaks out, and finally the urine begins to drop off with interruptions,
accompanied by tearing, burning pains at the point of the penis.
Urine smells strongly of Ammonium, and contains a large quantity of viscid,
thick, white mucus.
The paroxysms appear generally from three to six A. M.; amelioration through
the day.
Almost cartilaginous induration of the mucous membrane of the bladder.
Similar conditions of the bladder are to be found under Berberis vulgaris,
but not the ammoniacal smell; and the pain under Berberis is in the hip, not,
as under ********, in the thigh.
Berberis has also paralysis of the bladder with discharge of great
quantities of mucus, which deposits itself at the bottom of the vessel and is
viscid.

Re: FIND THE REMEDY'S NAME (154)
From TF Allen's handbook:
Cystitis, constant urging to urinate, with violent pain and straining, agg.
from midnight till morning.
- Cystitis, with strangury, ability to urinate only when on the knees and
pressing the head against the floor, the urine scalds the whole length of
the urethra.
- Cystitis, the urine very strongly ammoniacal, containing large quantities
of thick, white mucus, agg. early morning hours.
- With the cystitis severe pain in the thigh (Berb.
- in the hip).
- Feeling as if the bladder were distended, with pain agg. after
micturition, and neuralgic pains in anterior crural region going downward,
urine always clear, of high specific gravity, rather strongly urinous in
odor, without a trace of pus, at times increase of mucus.

From Gupta, Directory of diseases and cures
Ø3,x
5 drops in lukewarm water given after every 30 minutes for 1-2 hours when
there is violent pain in the kidney region due to renal calculi. Kidney
pain goes down thighs during urination. Patient passes urine only when he
goes down on knees and presses his head against wall or floor. Patient has
cold sweating of body during pain which is better by hot fomentations over
kidney or bladder. Urine is bloody, black, contains uric acid crystals,
gravels (sandy particles) like brick-dust and thick mucus. It is useful
remedy in constant urging and great straining during urination with
inflammation of urethra or ureter due to obstruction by the stone.
