I've largely lost the thread of this discussion as I didn't read all the
posts but it is worth taking a look at Kali Permanganicum for opiate
poisoning.

OPIUM POISONING
From Choudhuri:
The symptoms produced by Opium poisoning vary according to the quantity of Opium taken. In mild dose, it produces a sort of transient exilarating effect involving the emotional side of our nature more thoroughly than the intellectual sphere. There is also an increase in the nervous excitability of the system. The patient forgets all pains and troubles of life and seems to live for the time being in a heaven of peace, quiet and contentment. Imagination runs rampant, giving rise to all sorts of pleasurable emotions to be followed by a stage of easy drowsiness. This is why we find
such a lot of men getting addicted to this strong narcotic and anodyne. Loquacity, increased imaginary power, amounting at times to hallucinations, and priapism are all symptoms that occur at this stage. The symptoms of increased dosage simulates an attack of apoplexy. The pleasant drowsiness, spoken of previously, passes into complete and absolute unconsciousness. Muscular relaxation, a very red bloated turgid face, rattling stertorous breathing, contraction of pupil to a pin-point, blood-shot eyes and hot sweat on the skin are important symptoms of this stage. The patient can
no longer be roused even by the most violent means. He lies motionless and senseless with eye-lids closed or partially closed. The surface of the body is bathed in profuse perspiration. The face is pale, the lips are blue, the lower jaw is dropped and the muscles are completely relaxed. Retention of urine occurs early in the history. Gradually the skin becomes more cyanosed and covered with cold clammy sweat. The pulse becomes slower and feebler, till it vanishes. The agitations and twitchings of individual groups of muscles gradually subside, betokening the dawn of complete
paralysis Respiratory movements are made at longer intervals and then finally cease, death taking place from asphyxiation. Heart's action continues for a short while even after death. The treatment in case of acute Opium poisoning should be directed first, to removal of unabsorbed poison from the stomach; and secondly to prevention of death by coma and cessation of respiration. Autopsy reveals the vessels of the brain and meninges to be gorged with blood. The brain substance presents numerous dark spots. Serous effusions are frequently met with in the dark spots. Serous effusions
are frequently met with in the space between the meninges and the ventricles. The lungs show signs of intense congestion and turgescence.
