After not very successfully treating an acute going around, I got it myself.
Slow onset, took me about a week, your not even sure you are sick but don’t feel like doing much.
Cough states slowly for a day or two then escalates. Croupy, strep confirmed in one patient with very low fever. Swelling in trachea and rust avian tubes without heat in face or skin. ( used Spongea and when raw throat came on in middle of the night used Bell (almost missed it due to the cool face).
Expectoration very scanty, tiny droplets from nose, clear mucus the size of a grain of table salt that is clear and sticky. Would not be noticed on tissues unless you really looked. This will spread easily.
Current sx a deep barking cough. Do not yet have enough sx to be sure where to go with this cough yet. A bit restless so thinking Kali Bic or Maybe Rhus tox.
Don’t feel sick this morning but not out of bed yet and ears are itching from inside.
You will probably need to change remedies frequently on this one.
Happy to hear what you are seeing and maybe we can come up with better strategies for it.
Acute - genus epidemicus?
Re: Acute - genus epidemicus?
Maria,
Here’s the link to Paul Herscu’s annual flu update:
http://www.nesh.com/articles-on-homeopa ... c-updates/
The genus epidemicus he’s seeing currently is Lycopodium, though earlier this fall it was Gelsemium. One of the strange aspects of this year’s flu is that it often morphs into asthma in the elderly, so be on the lookout for that.
Peace,
Dale

Tried Lycopodium last evening after reading that but it had no effect. I am afraid of Causticum. Every time I have taken it the results were terrible.

Thank you for posting this. This rattly croupy deep cough is left. Happens occasionally and still not feeling great but could get up and push myself.
Re: Acute - genus epidemicus?
Though it might be my imagination….I had a bad 3 week tickling cough in
June…and same cough first three weeks of November. ..I attributed to smoke
coming from the western use and cloudy skies for months and months with no
blue skies. I think I've seen one blue sky in last three months and that day
the planes clouded it up again with their chem trails. Now when I started to
get it again…I took couple thousand mgs of d3 and one k2 capsule and it has
seemed to stop it in its tracks. It seems to start up again when I spend a lot
of time outside. Don't like to take that d3 every day cause it binds me up.

Re: Acute - genus epidemicus?
Probably not helpful for the genus epidemicus discussion but I also had this and am still recovering. Like Maria, it was a very slow start and I felt like I was fighting “something” off for weeks. Finally got what we might characterize as a “BAD COLD.” The most unique symptom for me was a very painful pharynx. Felt swollen and flabby no discoloration. When sleeping/lying the exhale got blocked. Tried Merc at first because of ear involvement, some bloody streaks in nasal discharge. May have shifted me just a bit. Then tried Nux-v because I was chilled, really craved coffee, discharge turned copious, fluent and clear. Despite the fluent discharge my head was stuffed and with painful pressure in frontal, ethmoid sinuses extending into teeth and even ears. Then read these posts and tried Lyc because the warm drinks helped, worse in the morning, some tummy rumbling. Nothing helped until All-cepa turned the tide overnight. I can feel the presence and potential for a cough that is infrequent and I believe I am going to recover without it going further.

Don't forget Cinnabar as a possible remedy for that feeling like you have a heavy pair of glasses on that is putting pressure at the root of your nose.
Interesting that allium cepa cam in for you, I never got the fluid coryza, but do still have some deep coughs. Only thing left is that I get weary in the evening, have energy but no all of it back,
My homeopath said to take a dose of Sulphur 6C, one dry dose to use an antipsoric to finish up with it.
Yes, this is an interesting one, world wide now it seems. Looks to me like a compilation of what has been given out in vaccines lately.
