Read somewhere years ago about children who don't go through the traditional
break with the mother at a young age but the mother holds onto to the bond for
way too long and as a adults these children have schizophrenic tendencies. I
remember something in homeopathy about remedies that have issues with mother
and father, not sure if it addressed over-bonding and I think Nat Mur was one
of them for either the mother or father and there was another one which I
can't remember. Can anyone address this and where I could find more
information?
remedies that address issues with the parents….
Re: remedies that address issues with the parents….
Carol,
I think you’re talking about the theory of the “schizophrenogenic mother,” popularized late in the 20th century when they didn’t believe schizophrenia and other mental illnesses had biological and genetic bases. It’s been debunked. See Ron Peters’ recent book, No One Cares About Crazy People, for a chilling rundown of the history of treating the mentally ill and theories of causation.
As for “mother” issues, Scholten would have it that these pertain to any Muriaticum.
Peace,
Dale

Lac humanum and Lac maternum would I assume be two to consider, tho I know there are others too, tho coming up blank at the moment.
And of course you’d need to factor in specifics about the nature of the parent-child bonds; and the reasons why it happened; and particulars about the way the adult child had internalized and reacted, etc. I’ve recently been talking with a friend about situation of a friend of his, who is only now, at age (?)60-ish? beginning his own life, because he circled around mom until she died. And actually it’s the norm in some cultures (and also in some US sub-cultures), in which case you’d need to analyze differently.

Interesting!!
But the issue of being kept too close to mom for too long (which would presumably have to include, for the wrong reasons or etc.), that is definitely a “thing” in some cases, apart from any question of schizophrenia. I guess that’s what I was missing… This friend-of-friend is not the least schizophrenic, but he’s paid a heavy cost, or so it seems to me.

Some snippets from Folliculinum speak of “embroiled bond with a parent” in small children. That same source American Homeopath 1997 mentions that more work/proving needs to be done with adult males to see what Foll might do. One suggested link is that the mother of either sex child used synthetic birth control or fertility drugs.
