Hi All,
Is there anyone on this list that lives in New
York
State and has "beaten the system" with the
mandatory
hep B vaccine law?
My daughter's school nurse just told me that if I
don't get her vaccinated my name will be turned
over
to the Child Protective Agency.
JJ

You *are* "religiously opposed" to vaccination, aren't you ?

Re: hep B vaccine
Many people misunderstand the "religious" exemption for vaccines. As I
learned in a class on law for lay people, "religious" does NOT have anything
to do with a specific "religion". In other words, one does not need to be a
member of an established religion with anti vaccine doctrine. Religious has
been defined and any personal belief that one holds strongly as one would
hold a religion. By that definition, plus the information Dave posted, it
should not be difficult to obtain exemptions. We need to be careful not to
take legal advise from school principals, counselors, nurses, etc. They are
not educated in the truth, just in what their superiors either believe to be
the truth or what they would like to be the truth.

Hi Russell,
I think what you say is true in *most* states, but in Texas, unless things
have changed in the past ten years or so, that apparently isn't the case.
Then and there, at least, to be given an exemption you had to be a member
-- and have been a member for some time period which I don't remember -- of
one of a small group of established churches that the Texan powers-that-were
recognized as "legitimate" vaccine-opposers. So one has to check the
specific requirements for the state one is in!
