From low X (D if in Europe) to high C. Even M can be appropriate in partucularly robust cases. The lower is the potency the quicker and the shorter is the action. The higher is the potency, the longer is the action, but also higher chances of initial aggravation. LM - if super sensitive.

BUT high potency in an intense situation (often "acute" but could be chronic also), the results can be literally immediate, as well as lasting. Don't make the mistake of thinking that high potencies are necessarily slow -- they are not!
