When making your own remedy and needing to start with tincturing, is there
a particular ratio of herbs to alcohol to use?
And how much alcohol should be added to the remedy bottle for
preserving, if any?
And would any alcohol in the tincture, and then remedy be detrimental to
garden plants?

Re: making remedies from scratch
Hello Tanya,
The mother tincture is presumed to be a 1:10 ratio of herb or solute to solvent.
I use sterile reverse osmosis water and sterile new bottles. In twenty years of practice I have not used alcohol as a preservative. But if you do not have clean, sterile water the remedy bottle will get cloudy in a couple of days.
Someone else will be able to help you with that question.
Warmly, Maria
