Another "obstacle to cure" to be aware of when treating old folks with
varoius problems, most definitely including dementia states, is simple
dehydration. I forget where I've read about this; I think it's come up a
few places, but doesn't seem in common circulation yet? (Or maybe it is...)
As people get "old", they're less sensitive to many inner signals, including
taste (-> loss of appetite) and sometimes thirst. Or perhaps it's too much
of a nuisance to drink, or they get used to being thirsty, I don't know.
But I've read that generalized dehydration can lead to brain dehydration,
which can lead to dementia and etc.

Note, tho, that the cure for dehydration would *not* be "anything wet" -- it
would be WATER, and enough water.

Dehydration can cause an elevation of BUN levels in the blood. When these
levels get high some very strange behavior can occur as thinking processes
are altered. It is often associated with the use of diuretics, but not
necessarily, or other medication. If this state is such that it can be
corrected by rehydration and medication changes if they are involved than it
was simply a transient dementia associated with dehydration and not the type
of dementia we have been discussing that involves organic brain changes.

Hi everyone,
I’m still following the threads on the ‘perfect potency’. It’s interesting to say the least.
Has anyone on the list treated Alzheimers/Dementia with any success?

Hi Rochelle
Thanks for this advice.
I wonder if there is a rate number for Alzheimers?

Dr. Ramakrishnan has. I don't have the case notes at hand right now, but I'd be happy to give you more information later. (My office right now is in the midst of being insulated, so disorder rules.)
Peace,
Dale

I have treated my mother's alzheimers for ten years. I've gotten rid of times
when she would be talking non-stop for several days 24/7. She was in a
nursing home with other alzheimer's patients for 3 weeks a few years ago..and
they were all disturbed and talking talking talking...so i know that can be
changed. She leads a very peaceful life. Recently, i've started to change
her diet based on her genotype...which is an evolution of the the blood type
diet. There are "diamond" foods considered to reverse issues caused from years
of eating the wrong foods. In this system..my mother is a "gatherer"
type...(this is based on blood type, secretor status..which you can only get
by sending away for a saliva test..and whether your ring finger or index
finger is longer...and other physical characteristics. LIsted of the usual
diseases that the gatherer is susceptible to...is cognitive dysfunction...such
as alzheimers. One of the supplements that is recommended is alpha lipoic
acid, melatonin, and strangely...calendula(not in homeopathic form...and i'm
going to check that remedy out soon)..among some other supplements. Studies
with the alpha lipoic acid have shown increased cognitive function in
alzheimer's patients. I ordered some.

The idea of the diet is to only eat the "diamond' foods for six months and
then you can start adding other foods...and then a list of foods to always
avoid. This particular diet for the gatherer seems very limited...but i'm
going to try it. For instance...turkey and lamb ...okra(yuck)..very few
vegetables that i recognise...and brocolli is not one of them..something she
used to eat religiously years before. Also, walnut oil, cottage cheese,
tomatoes...the white of eggs...and butter beans, millet and rice
bran...plus...spices such as cilantro, curry and tumeric...and there is a
god...CHOCOLATE. Also, very few fruits...peaches and pineapple,
lingoberries..and some others i've never heard of. I'm a different type..so i
am cooking six different meals a day..but its a lot of fun..and as always..i'm
very hopeful. Also..green tea and yerba mate...for my mother's type.

Anyway, i hope any readers with a parent with alzheimers find this helpful. I
wouldn't recommend the above diet to anyone unless they had the same
characteristics...but the book goes over these things. My mother had longer
index fingers, blood type 0 negative. shorter lower leg to upper leg and
torso..from seat to head..being longer for the same as the legs. She didn't
need a secretor status..because the "type" was the same for secretor or non
secretor.
