7a.m.- 7p.m.

Post by Rochelle »

I had a new patient in today with something his doctors called Reflux and he has CAT Scans, MRI, blood tests etc . and all is OK. His doctor has given up on him and suggested he sees a homeopath!!
Now to me Reflux is something that comes up to the throat. His does not - it is a burning pain that goes from the middle of the stomach through to the back. Anyway the interesting thing which I couldn't rep was it is there only from 7a.m. to 7 p.m.

Can anyone find a rubric for this?
I gave him Nux Vom because of his personality and Nat Phos cell salts; told him to stop all his anti acid meds and stop diet drinks.

Hi Rochelle

Just a thought, since I recently went through trying to find a remedy for something similar, and another case of internal bleeding from the digestive tract.

When did this symptom start? Was /is he taking any meds that could cause this pain? I gave Arnica for the trauma on the stomach from pain killers and the pain ceased within hours, this was after many years (7 +) of antacids and other meds for the problem. And, in the case of the internal bleeding, I made him get off all statins, (which had him walking with a cane.....sigh) and all the other meds he was on. The Dr. was more than amazed at his instant recovery, from near death to walking into the VA hospital with an attitude, in a week! Of course he is on another remedy now, but the Arnica was given for the initial trauma.

Just something to think about

That is certainly something to think about!! Arnica can be amazing. I presume you gave a high potency. He has been on and off whatever drugs his doctor decided to try in the last 5 years but from what I gather he hasn’t taken them consistently. I don’t think he was on anything before then but you never know as I didn’t ask the question – but I will now!!
Thanks

Hi Rochelle
When you find clock like periodicity one medicine you can conssider is Cedron. Its complaints come aat fixed times
China and Chinnium Sulph can also have fixed periodicity.
But if I had to prescribe for the above symptoms I would probably settle for Kali-bi.
Kali-bi has reflux, as well as fixed periodicity. It also has a pain from behind the sternum to the back
Best regards

Hi Rochelle
On the first person I started with a 30c then went to a 200c and on the man with the internal bleeding I gave 200c right away. He had so much trauma to his body from all the scoping the doctors were doing.
What made me think that drugs are the issue is the timing, it’s as if the drug wears off at night and when taken in the morning, the reflux comes back.

Reflux means it comes back up for somewhere lower to somewhere higher. There is no throat implication.
It is not always stomach upward reflux, though that is the common one.
In severe metabolic alkalosis, (as occurs in cushings syndrome and some other conditions) there is reflux from the small intestine back up into the stomach. This is reflux of alkali and it destroys the stomach lining, causing serious pain, and also can cause collagen constrictions that make it hard to swallow food unless it is liquid or tiny pieces.

As to pain through to the back, this can be pain from acid reflux into the esophagus, becasue the way the nerves are arranged, the acid reflux pain comes in various places according to the stomach position at the time of the reflux.

What makes no sense here is that he has pain in the day. Usually reflux pain is worst at night, when one is lying prone, as then there is no gravity to prevent it.
So that suggests another cause - maybe drugs...
The problem with drugs to prevent acid production is that he body sees them and says - oh heck something is messing with my acid production so I better make more. It will make more especially in the day when meals are taken.

(Pancreatitis also can cause pain through to the back. AS can metabolic alkalosis pain fro alkali. SO the pain to the back is not very helpful in pointing to the source of the problem, that you want to remove as a maintaining cause.)

Namaste,
Irene

Thanks Elham – will keep these in mind. Kali Bi doesn’t at all high in my rep. I think I would want to see mucus somewhere in the picture to use this and I did ask about this.

You wrote :- The problem with drugs to prevent acid production is that he body sees them and says - oh heck something is messing with my acid production so I better make more. It will make more especially in the day when meals are taken.
That was the first thing I told him which was why he agreed to stop taking any of anti - acids like gaviscon etc!!

The syphilitic miasm is known fr being worse sunset to sunrise which is the opposite of what you are asking. Takin that into consideration, here is a search from Refrence Works that has sunset and sunrise in the same sentence:
Sunrise [sen] sunset: ars., 3Aur., bell., bute-j., cimic., cocci-s., colch., coloc., cypra-e., frax., glon., kali-i., 2kalm., mag-p., med., merc., 2nat-m., nat-s., phyt., plb., puls., rhus-t., sang., sil., sol, spig., stann., 2syph., tub., verat.
Kalmia has a headache that is worse sunrise to sunset. Not what you are asking but if you generalize that symptom it may be of use to read that remedy.
