REMEDY FOR TEETHING...
Can you give me a remedy for a 6 month old who is teething? He is uncomfortable and chewing on everything. You can feel the teeth coming.
Thanks

Bioplasgin No: 21 (Willmar Schwabe Germany) biochemic combination of Calc Phos and Ferr Phos, 2 tablets three/four times daily 4 hourly has proved very beneficial through out teething.(In all cases of teething)
In case of severe irritability (wants the child be carried), Chamomilla 30 two times (or 3/4 times) daily.

Re: REMEDY FOR TEETHING...
It depends on more about the child than simple teething. Homeopathy should be individualized as much as possible.

In theory yes. ANd I seldom suggest a remedy for a specific set of symptoms, but I do here.
In practice Chamomilla 200C works every time - becasue it IS individualized as a remedy for teething effects. It covers the range of teething symptoms thoroughly.
I have used it for decades in animal teething as well.
Namaste,
Irene

Irfan
Please tell us who taught you to prescribe combination remedies to any one especially a baby?
One what symptoms are prescribing these two remedies.
Which do you expect to work better and why?
How will you follow?
What is the difference between this method of prescribing and Homeopathy?
And why 2 tablets per dose?
It certainly is not as per Hahnemann's teachings. He could find no justification at all for combination remedies.
Organon§ 274
As the true physician finds in simple medicines, administered singly and uncombined, all that he can possibly desire (artificial disease-force which are able by homœopathic power completely to overpower, extinguish, and permanently cure natural diseases), he will, mindful of the wise maxim that "it is wrong to attempt to employ complex means when simple means suffice," never think of giving as a remedy any but a single, simple medicinal substance; for these reasons also, because even though the simple medicines were thoroughly proved with respect to their pure peculiar effects on the unimpaired healthy state of man, it is yet impossible to foresee how two and more medicinal substances might, when compounded, hinder and alter each other’s actions on the human body; and because, on the other hand, a simple medicinal substance when used in diseases, the totality of whose symptoms is accurately known, renders efficient aid by itself alone, if it be homœopathically selected; and supposing the worst case to happen, that it was not chosen in strict conformity to similarity of symptoms, and therefore does no good, it is yet so far useful that it promoted our knowledge of therapeutic agents, because, by the new symptoms excited by it in such a case, those symptoms which this medicinal substance had already shown in experiments on the healthy human body are confirmed, an advantage that is lost by the employment of all compound remedies.

Re: REMEDY FOR TEETHING...
Soroush
I thank you very much for your email advising me, a homeopath, to strictly follow Organon, hence to prescribe a single and similar remedy to provide ideal cure.
In chronic cases, I always try to prescribe similar remedy, single remedy and minimum dose.
In acute cases, when the patient or symptoms are not available at hand, instead of refusing to prescribe I try to give relief to the patient using my 25 years experience.
1. In this case of teething I prescribed single remedy, Chamomilla, based on mental symptom (child wants to be carried) which I found very common in children during teething and Chamomilla is the remedy in 90% cases. Some cases may require repetition after 4 hours even.
2. I agree other remedies may be required in other 10% cases but I am sure Chamomilla will still give relief with above mental symptom, being partially indicated,
3. Dr. Schussler's biochemic salts are not strictly chosen and practised homeopathically but used to fulfill deficiency of certain salts or to maintain the balance in the body as per his theory. Teething children need Calcium and Iron during teething. Hence, they may be given Calc Phos and Ferr Phos in low trituration i.e 1x to 3x. He has advised to give them alternately. For patients convenience and quick relief they may be given jointly without any harm, as excess salt is excreted through urine. But I accept that it is a wrong practice principally and should be avoided in salts therapy as well. Why two tablets? No harm, quality or potency matters not quantity. As per the size of Willmar Schwabe tablets they recommend two tablets on the bottle, not my own advice.
4. I have not advised to use both kinds of treatment at a time but any one as per the condition. If the child is not so irritable or does not want to be carried salt therapy is beneficial.
5. Though I cannot favour combination medicines yet to answer your question:
patient comes to a homeopath after taking different medicines with mixed and false symptoms. A homeopath should apply the principle of similarity. A similar remedy or series of similar remedies will clear the case.
I hope you will forgive me for an act which was taken to give relief to the child without any intention of harming his/her health. I appreciate your concern for true homeopathy.
Thank you.

Re: REMEDY FOR TEETHING...
I did nto see any combination remedy suggested by Irfan.
A combination remedy would be a mixture of remedies, not separate cell salts, plus one homeopathic remedy.
I too suggested Chamomilla, without listing its clear indications in teething - but suggested 200C.
Cell salts are separate and used per Schuessler as supplements, where indicated.
I have not used them in teething (as Irfan does) as Cham 200C has had effect always without that need for my cases.
But I woud like to defend the use of Cell salts in general.
Schuessler advocated 6X which is what I use, but lower potency as suggested here, has no reason not to also work.
Schuessler salts are a separate study to homeopathy, but can be used alongside or separately if indicated.
Some of my own uses include use in the common issues of kidney/urinary problems in cats, all based on the research of Schuessler, plus a few generations of expereince among homeopath forebears in my family:
(Always 6X - to use preventively or as treatment)
eg. Ferr Phos where there is incontinence of urine due to muscular weakness, such as in older cats.
eg. Mag Phos where there is spasmodic retention of urine with constant need to urinate.
eg. Nat Sulf where there is polyuria and also sand/gravel in the urine- eg for for prevention in older subjects where there is serious danger to life and health if blockage occurs, esp in male cats who have a tiny urethral diameter.
When used preventively, it is like using them as a tonic.
They can also be very effective to maintain general health.
The practice passed down for generations in the family, goes like this:
there are twelve cell salts at 6X potency.
A bottle of one of them is kept on the dining room table at all times, changing the cell salt kept there each week.
Members of the family take one tablet of the current cell salt every night.
My cousin inherited the homeopathic wisdom to do this and her family is never ill.
Cell salts have a great place in health care.
How many to take is a bit like asking how long the electric extension cord needs to be. It is not that critical.
More can be taken if a specific need is known, such as maybe one a day for prevention as above, or 3 times a day in acute, possibly 3 times a week in chronic issues - adapted to the individual's need for it in all cases.
Namaste,
Irene
