You can have a look at NAION in google. Immediately you can try belladona or steroid therapy. It is important that the swelling should subside. I had swelling of the nerve and now my right eye has very limited vision. I had to give up driving after the incident.

I was on statins for couple of years. Stopped taking them about 7 years ago because my thigh muscles became emaciated. I still can't sit on ground nor can get up from there without support.
