Re: Poor vs Rich
Dear Liz, I so whole-heartedly agree with you! I feel in the UK and perhaps other western societies, there is almost an illness industry, with hospitals almost becoming the illness factories - people go in with one condition and come out usually with several, including the psychological "mindse...

Re: Fears - was Ignatia
One possibly related issue is the fact that panic attacks don't cause fainting but the needle/blood phobia does - and presumably the "white coat syndrome" involves at least elements of the latter, which can be very extreme. The fear of "white coats" can be taken further and quest...

Re: Blood Pressure
I was wondering if giving this lady a wrist blood pressure monitor so that she can keep an eye on her different readings for say a week would help? She could record what happens in all kinds of situations and with all kinds of thoughts, emotions, etc. I've done this on myself and been quite surprise...

Re: Ignatia
Does this patient get anxious/nervous when about to see a practitioner? I'm just guessing but it seems that is possible from the two readings in the two circumstances. Dear Willy, It would probably be impossible for her to loose it - and it would be a great shame if it somehow left her. It is not a disability, quite the opposite. Re: Seeing colors
I think everyone who has synaesthiathinks that everyone else perceives the world they way they do, or very similarly. It is only when a programme is shown on television, or someone reads a book or article etc. that it becomes obvious that this is not the case. I realised about 20 years ago when a pr...

Re: Seeing colors
Dear Willy, This sounds like synaesthesia, where someone "sees" letters, numbers, days of the week, foods, etc. in colours, or where the sense of smell is linked to other associations. It is not uncommon. I have it myself - each number is a different colour etc. The particular associations...
