Minutus

I don't know if any of you are into gestures but I have this patient, a 12 year old girl, over weight, quite immature (no menses as yet) who sits at the consultation constantly pulling at her sleeves so that they go over her hands, fiddling with hands all the time. She speaks openly to me and does to outsiders. No true presenting complaint - more the parents bothered that she is over weight and refuses to eat the variety of food mum puts on the table, but honestly both of them (former patients) are. She dislikes spicy and seafood but according to her not much else. She does have a sweet tooth but eats things like broccoli and most fruit. Fears the dark (this is better now) going upstairs on her own but can't say why - she is OK once in her room.

I have given her Calc going from 30 , now to 1M and there have been subtle changes (concentration better) but I was just wondering what anyone thought about the gestures which are not really properly represented.

Why don't you find a way of asking her why she does it - she knows

She's at that "don't know" age. I think, she has been doing it for a long
time!!!

Have you thought of Bar_c? t worked for me in a case of extremely immature
patient. She gestured a lot with face.

Yes it is definitely a thought if the Calc 1M does nothing more. The reason
why I have not given it so far is that there doesn't appear to be any
shyness with strangers which is what I would expect in this Rx - not even
when she was younger, as I asked.

She could be Graphites-
Has fidgety and aversion to fish and of course over-weight

She is a very warm child to touch and Graphites is chilly.There are no
skin problems.

Have you been able to chat with her, things like how she likes school,
her favorite subjects, anything she has trouble with, what sorts of
movies and books she likes, what she wants to do when she grows up,
what she's happy about, anything she wishes she could change...

My Bar_c patient didn't appear shy. She was extroverted... but, later on,
she revealed being really timid on certain occasions, for example, when in
the presence of handsome boys that were younger than her.

Naturally !! I didn't give the case as I just really wanted to discuss the
gesture. She thinks she's ugly but I think that is quite common with girls
of her age plump or not and also the upset when at school they have girly
quarrels. You know the type of thing - "I'm not your best friend any more
because you were playing with ....... at lunchtime".
