Hi all,
Does anyone have any experience or thoughts about palliating constipation as a side effect of morphine (crude dose)?
Thanks,
Gail

Adjust magnesium supplement upward as needed during the
time of morphine medication (and/or eat figs
as needed), and a dose of Silica 30C if impacted.

How about Opium itself? Opium 30 should do it.
Nux vom is good too ( and Strychnine as well). Since you are only
thinking of palliation. ( Plat if Nux vom fails if there is a Nux
vom type constipation)
Alumina, Plumbum etc. which cause kind of paralytic constipation
are also homeopathic since Morphine causes that...

Dear Gail, Though one must always match the symptoms to the remedy, Opium is
often the remedy required for constipation due to opiate derivatives.
Opiates cause an inertia to the bowel and if you read up opium this is the
way its described. Has worked well each time I have used it Regards Pauline
