Ants, termites and others

Dear all,

it's been some times since this topic had been discussed - where I
obviously had opened a can of worms (or insects) without being able to
join in the discussion afterwards.

I have not been able to read all the mails about the sheds, so I just
want to share with you my view.

I had used Acidum formicicum 200C, 1 glob into a big amount of water.
Sprayed and sprinkled it onto the terrace (not on the ants!).
Ants moved away.

I didn't treat the ants.

What I did, from my point of view, was: changing the terrain.

By using a homoeopathic potency, I created a 'big shadow' of ants. We
know, that ants identify theself by their specific nest-odor. One with a
different odor from a different nest will get killed.

So, changing the terrain, the soil, by occupying it with another
'energetic' odor MAY have caused my ants to leave and look for another
place in my garden (there are many possiblities, as no
pesticides/herbicides or whatever are allowed there).
Possibly this idea worked only because of the territorial character of
the ants.

(Perhaps I'll ask them).

Is this idea new?

Surely not.

Our very own Constantine Hering uttered such thoughts already in 1833.
Did he?

He did.

In his article "Some comments about the Psorin", published in the Archiv
für Homöopathische Heilkunde" he writes (my translation):

"It would be possible, however, that potencies of the seed of a plant
could serve for the eradication of it, and if that was confirmed, it
would be easier to get the weed out of the gardens, especially lichen
and other eruptions easier from the trees. And what counts even more, in
the same way the living weed, all sorts of vermin, could be driven out,
e.g. the bugs, which would relieve some sighs of the healthy ones.
Certainly a bug potentized to X [meaning 30C; GR], and then some
globules into water, will quickly cure the inflammatin from the bite of
the other bugs, for this has been confirmed to me by other insects. What
concerns the other tormentors, the conclusion is not yet etirely
reliable; in short: only trial alone will teach. One has to do it. But
nobody should get angry with me, if it does not only go wrong, that is,
nothing happens and the effort was in vain, but even the opposite."

He goes on a few lines later:
" It doesn't concern homoepathy directly, but it concerns the important
law of opposition of life, and especially opposition against potencies,
especially the opposition against potencies of the own parts or
products. Even healthy humours and parts of the body, e.g of man, have a
mighty influence on him, as I have experienced through provings and
about which I'm going to speak more some time.."

All the best,

Gaby

and another thing......

Anac in MT was used to paint the floor to kill termites

How about that!

Thanks Gaby, this is very interesting. And we don't treat the disease
(the ants or termites although they probably do not view themselves as
a disease, they just exist and do their own thing just like any disease
agent does) but that which is succumbing to the disease - in your case
your domain, in Michele's example, the shed. But, as I think Chris was
asking and Shannon asked it a couple of weeks back, how do we choose
the rx in these instances. we can only name that which is 'threatened'
and how it is being threatened. Sometimes we can only observe or
listen, not to words but nature. Sometimes, as in one sided disease
there is just 1 or 2 sx to use but it is enough. I still think carbo
veg would have been good for that shed :-) Best, Joy

From Frans Vermeulen's "Prisma" -

Anacardium Orientale

"- Oil: The oil is a powerful antiseptic and cholagogue. ...The
fixed oil is
used in India as an application to floors of houses, serving as a
repellent
to termites. "

I am not surprised if you are using the oil (which has been in use
since ancient times), crikes you might as well use liquid Terebinth or
bleach. I thought we were referring to potentised rx. Joy

I am not using it as We don't get a great call for termite
treatments in Norfolk . (We do however have sheds in norfolk)

I merely mention the reference showing that this has been it's
application, which considering the discussion is not about
homeopathic treatment anyway, I thought might of interest.

Hi Joy,
I don't necessarily think this is a treatment for disease.
Giving a homoeopathic remedy can also cause something, as we see in the
proving.

So by sprinkling the potentized substance I caused something which had
an effect - as simple as that.

Perhaps we need to free ourselves a little bit from the disease (=
negative) aspect and return to the more objective relationship of cause
and effect.
Let's step back from the 'threatening' aspect (because that's our quite
subjective humane point of view) but rather reagrd this in a neutral
way.

We have ants here.

We know, in crude forms there are substances like the Anacardium oil,
Petroleum and others, which are disgusting for ants. So, instead of
using the crude substances, we could use the potentized forms or these
substances (in a 6C or others), which then would be an 'anti' way of
interfering (I avoid the word antipathic, because there is no
suffering).
Of course there may be also plants which are disgusting for ants - these
could be used as well in this manner.

What I tried to do, was more in the 'homoeo' interfering way, using a
product of the species (and possibly their territorial character) to
occupy my own terrain, signalizing them may be: here's a much bigger ant
nest.

Or, even more 'homoeo' could be to find especially ant-attracting
substances, and potentize them. But may be, it would take many trials to
find out, from which potency on this would mean driving the ants away
(who knows: lower potencies could fill your house with ants...;-)

The 'iso' way would have been, to take an ant, crush it and potentize it
into a 6C, 12C or 6X or whatever, and sprinkle it.

But of course we don't 'treat' here (so we are not looking for
symptoms).

We simply try to look after our own interests (getting sheds or terraces
or whatever free from other inhabitants), without necessarily needing to
kill them. Just trying to show them: this is mine, and this is yours -
with the help of potencies.

If anybody is interested in Fauna and Flora, this would be great stuff
for extensive work (probably enough for a doctorates degree).

Best,

Gaby

Hi Chris,

I had written:

You said:

Yes, that's how I see it and how I think Hering wanted to express it.

Homoeopathy wants to treat a deviation from health (seen through human
eyes).

What a healthy soil is, will differ depending from the observer's eyes.
To get rid of so-called weeds is, well, a very human point of view.
Because the weeds or better said herbs have their place and often are
needed for a sound balance for Fauna and Flora.

I think potentized remedies when well chosen can lead to a sound balance
when regarded from different angles, not only from the point of view
like: is it useful for me or not?

Best,

Gaby

I remember reading somewhere that it is speculated Ants use a
chemical for communication in too miniscule quantity and too fine
for detection, so whether true or not, it suggests that whichever way
they communicate it is an extremely delicate mechanism, and were a
substance diluted it might just disrupt their ability to communicate
properly or easily be within the same range or frequency of their
communication, perhaps it worked like scrambling does on radio signals.

Dear Gaby, I was working from the point of view that disease =
something unwanted that needs to be repelled or redirected in some way,
so I think it is the same. It is just that the word 'disease' carries
such heavy connotation.

The 'threatening' aspect might also be heavy handed but if the need is
great to redirect a 'substance' then we 'have' to do it. So it is in
degrees. Gently redirecting anything whether it be serious pathology or
a splinter or insects with potentised substances is the same to me,
i.e. a homeopathic method at work. And for those who will now ask for
sx similarity I would say there is always something to work with
however investigative one needs to be :-)

I agree there is much research to do in this area. Best wishes, Joy
