Veterinary Homeopaths - March 10-12 2006.

Peter qualified at Bristol in 1972 and works in the Holistic
Veterinary Medicine Centre in Sussex, England. He is managing
partner of the Homeopathic Professionals Teaching Group,
based in Oxford, and has been responsible for developing the
HPTG International courses in Australia, Ireland and South
Africa. He lectures to veterinary surgeons and doctors in several
countries and is a certified tutor with the International
Association for Veterinary Homeopathy. He is ex-President of the
British Association of Homeopathic Veterinary Surgeons.
Peter is co-author of `Textbook of Veterinary Homeopathy' and
has contibuted to other publications, including a chapter in
`Passionate Medicine' edited by Robin Shohet.
Peter is a lively and dynamic teacher who is passionate about
homeopathy. His sessions are interactive and entertaining, in
view of his belief that we learn best when we are enjoying
ourselves. He also believes learning homeopathy can be a
journey of discovery which has enormous value for practitioner
as well as patient.
Day 1
The dynamics of the veterinary consultation
Since Hanemann, homeopaths have attempted to be objective in
case taking.
However, even a superficial knowledge of modern
psychodynamics reveals the
impossibility of achieving such a state. A homeopathic
consultation
represents a complex psychodynamic dance between
homeopath and patient..
However a knowledge of these dynamics presents the
homeopath with another
valuable tool for case analysis. In the case of the veterinarian,
the
situation is further complicated by the relationship between
animal and
'owner'.
This session will investigate this fascinating field from the
perspective of
the veterinarian.
Tuberculinum and the tubercular miasm
An overview of this important miasm, with guidance to the use of
the
tubercular nosodes as homeopathic remedies.
Carcinosin and the cancer miasm
The cancer miasm has only been recognised in veterinary
homeopathy in
relatively recent years. This session investigates the miasm and
its
nosodes, in particular Carcinosin.
The Ranunculaceae
An introduction to the grouping of homeopathic remedies by
taxonomy, with a
look at the Buttercup family and the remedies in the family which
are of
relevance to veterinary homeopathy.
Day 2
The Spider remedies
A detailed look at the spider family, the common features and the
differences, with reference to their uses in veterinary medicine.
This
session will concentrate on Tarentula hispanica as the
archetypical spider
remedy, comparing the natural history of the spider itself to the
type of
patient who will benefit from it, and extending this to the other
members of
the taxonomic class. Example case histories will be discussed.
The Insect remedies
There are a great number of insect remedies in the homeopathic
materia
medica, many of which are little used by veterinarians. This
session is
aimed at investigating insect remedies as a whole, with a view to
making
them more accessible to us as veterinarians
Remedies for the respiratory tract
A homeopathic approach to diseases of the respiratory tract. A
discussion on
what to look for in the way of guiding symptoms and some
remedies,
particularly minor ones which may be of use in the treatment of
patients
with respiratory disease.
Day 3
An approach to diseases of the skin
Skin diseases are among the most difficult cases which face the
veterinary
homeopath. This session will explore approaches to this area
which the
speaker has found useful in practice. As well as looking at
relevant materia
medica, the use of isopathy and bowel nosodes and a
miasmatic approach to
skin disease will be discussed.
In particular the material medica of the following remedies will
be
discussed:
Graphites and other carbon remedies
Arsenicum album and iodatum
