patient treated with Zoladex - prostate cancer

I have an elderly patient who complains of swollen legs, weakness in the legs especially on the right side, which came on suddenly about 3 years ago. On investigation I found that he had been given Zoladex for elevated PSA levels a short time before the appearance of the symptoms (he had had prostate cancer in 1993, and had the prostate removed). These symptoms are all listed as side effects of the drug. He still takes the drug and the symptoms have worsened. Because of the Zoladex, he's also taking Fosalan and Calctrate as the drug by inhibiting hormone production causes male menopause and susceptibility to osteoporosis. He has hot flashes too.
I'm not quite sure how to treat here. I found info on a conventional alternative to Zoladex, using Estradiol patches, which don't seem to have the same side effects and may be acceptable to his physician. Taking him off conventional medicine is not on the cards at this stage.
Can I use homeopathy to alleviate side effects of conventional medication? Should I ignore the conventional meds picture and diagnosis and just treat for the symptoms as presented - even if they are side effects? He is generally in very good shape - for any age! - but the weakness in his legs I think makes him feel limited.
The whole thing is confusing. Any ideas?
